New tires... max. width on stock rims?
I'm getting some new crappy tires... I'm looking for a little more rubber. Think I could fit 205's on the stock rims all around? What are the downsides to doing this?
Same here. I've done a search and found most tires to be 195/55-14. Is this the max width I can fit on the stockers? Any rec's for an all-season tire? Right now I'm considering the Firestone Firehawk SH30 (I love these and had them on my Legend), and the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 (the new ones) in 185/60-14 size, unless there is a better alternative in a wider tire. Thanks as always.
You can get Yokohama A520s, which are pretty much agreed to be a good tire, in 195-60-14. I'm using that width right now on the stock tires (yeah, I got new, cheap tires, Motomaster Predators
) and it works just fine. The tires stick out a bit but who cares?

Motomaster Predators huh? Sounds like the tires Ahnuld would put on his moped.
j/k
I've heard good things about the A520s in the 'teg forum, but if I remember correctly, the treadwear is right around the neighborhood of the stock Michelin XGT V4s <200. Plus I'm looking for an all-season tire (for now).
I know the SH30s are great in the rain, but my decision rests on what kind of grip the RE950s have in the dry - the SH30s leave me with something to be desired for dry traction.
