Default very quick question

my girlfriends sister just totaled her 1990 4dr integra and she had an aftermarket head unit installed in it, and a pair of aftermarket speakers. she wants me to take them out of the car before it goes to the junkyard. my first question is how do i get the head unit out, and will the aftermarket harness come out with it..... and can i just cut the wires right off the speakers since its going to the junk yard?

ITs not very hard to get head units off expecially if you dont care if the rest of the car is messed up. just rip crap off till you can pull the head unit out

you might want to check the legality of this before you do anything. to my understanding, after your girlfriend has recieved the ckeck for the totaled car, (or has signed some kind of agreement [contract]), then the car no longer belongs to her. which means if you take stuff out of it you are *technically* stealing.

the car is at a body shop because they werent aware that it didnt have collision insurance. they are waiting for it to go to the junkyard after her stereo is removed. so the car hasnt been signed over to anyone yet. is there a better way of getting the stereo out rather than pulling shitt off till i can get to it?

if the car is totalled then just do wutever u can to get the head unit out. the biggest pain in the *** in installin a radio is making sure u dont break or scratch anything. ur situation sounds like fun, just hack ur way to it.

If it's totaled, just break the damn dash. Ain't like you're still keeping the car.

to get the headunit out:
1- remove the armrest/e-brake cover -- there are two screws on each side and then two more under the plastic cover below the e brake
2 - unscrew the shiftknob
3 - remove the center console -- there is one screw on each side up front
4 - get a 1/4 inch drive ratched with an extension and remove the two bolts that are below the headunit
5 - slide out the headunit, unplug it, and you're done.
hope that helps...
