Hi everyone, I'm having off and on problems with my R. I have just put a different coil in my distributor, because I was getting an check engine light! Also I had to re time my car! Well I got the engine light to go away! But now sometimes when I starting off in 1st gear my car can't get pass 4000 rpm, and that point i shift to 2nd gear and i still can't get pass 4000 rpm etc.! Seems like it restricting me from something when I'm giving it more gas to the accelerator , or it seems like my car boggs. This only happens sometimes, not all the time! Any one ever has this occur to them?

 

I personally havent had this happen to me but if it is still under warrenty i would take it to an Acura dealership. What year is it and what kind of miles does it have? If anything i gave u a nice bump.

 

It's a 97' I got about 3000 on the engine, I rebuilt the engine for all motor! I don't have warranty on it no more, the thing is I never has this problem before I had to put a new coil for the distributor in! I don't know! Anybody? I wanted to see if anyone has this problem before i take it back to the mechanic!

 

sounds like your vtec solenoid might be disconnected or faulty. I had a v6 accord and the ******* thing was redlining at 3000 rpm. I looked around and saw the vtec solenoid connector broken (it was from a body shop) next to the oil filter. rigged it for them and ran like new
