I'm in the market right now for some new 17" tires.
I need some wide-assed rubber since I'm pushing some good torque numbers, and I wonder what the widest tire you've been able to mount on your teg's without it rubbing?
I was hoping for a 215/45/17, but not without some insight first.
Thanks!

215 should be fine.
you can always use wheel spacers and/or use a baseball bat to round up the fenders a little.

keep in mind the width of your rim, putting a wider tire on the same rim a narrower tire is on wont always improve the way you think it might. If the tire is wider than the rim than the tire wont make a solid seat under the rim and your sidewalls will fold much easier

The wheel is wide enough to accept up to a 215 series. There's a 195 on there right now, and it's stretched.
Anyone running a 215/45/17?
Also, there is a website that lists the actual height, and width of many brands of tires. Does anyone have a link to that?
thanks!

I've got a 97 gsr. I lowered it about 2" and put 17x7 wheels with 215-40-17's. I had to roll the fenders and it still rubs a little but it's tolerable. If you want good grip for torque then go for tire quality and not width.

That's a fair enough comment Brett.
I do plan on rolling the fenders, and still want to maintain the nice ride quality with the 45 series. The real performance will come from my 15" Hoosiers
itr206,
beautiful GSR man, beautiful.
I don't plan on slamming mine. Just a bit of a drop to lower the center of gravity.
Bryan305,
If a 215 will fit under your wells, than I shouldn't have any issues with it on my CD chassis (a friend with a DA chassis also runs 215's with no issues).
Thanks!

That color looks like Milano Red pearl, the color of my GSR (mine's a 96).
It's also known as the "ticket me" color.
She's beautiful, even though it lacks the VTEC that makes the GSR special.
Nothing compared to your "R" now though I bet.

sukebei, that was my dream size as far as street wheels go.
