Default kyb agx vs kyb gr-2

Other than the AGX being adjustable is there any difference between the GR2 and the AGX? I can get a set of GR2's for around $200, are these better than Tokico HP's

For the most part, the GR-2 is basically a OEM replacement shock, the AGX is more of a performance shock that would be better suited for aftermarket springs.
I've seen AGX's for ~300, so that's only $25 more per shock.

Even if you don't plan on adjusting them, they dampen better than the GR-2's if you're going to be using higher spring rates.

Ive had both so I can tell you. The GR2s are like the AGXs on a 1 or 2 setting. As stated already, gr2s are very tame and are like oe replacements.

what would be a good spring to use with the AGX? I really dont want to lower more than 1.5" at the absolute most nor do i want to max out the damper

kyb agx w/o a doubt ... also try the h&r sport spring .. should complement w/ the shock ... i have kyb agx but w/ coilovers, so i can adjust the height ...

I have sportlines right now, intending to get KYB AGX's soon. anyhow, is it possible for me to adjust the ride height (since eibach drop is somewhat uneven as most of you already know)?

oh screw it ill just get TypeR springs, all this crap i hear about uneven aftermarket srpings and too low springs that drop your car too much blah

would the GR2's be a good match to the ITR springs? I dont really see myself autoX'ing the car but I want it to be better than stock. of course after 227K even new LS replacement stuff would be better than now lol

If I were you I'd get the KYB AGX and get a set of Eibach Pro-kits... then you have a performance spring and shock setup w/ the height/lowering requirements you want...and it won't break the bank.. approx $320 for the KYB AGX and approx $220 for the set of pro-kits... you can also look at the Type R springs, or H&R OE sport...

i got the H&R OE's cause i dont wanna deal with the damn speed bumps here. .75 inch lowering, plus whatever little after springs settle in

If the GR-2's are just OE replacement, will they last with aftermarket springs?

I dont think the gr-2 is gonna last too long with aftermarket springs.

I'm currently running with AGXs. Personally, I think they're great struts. I also have Eibach sportlines. I hear you shouldn't go any lower than 2" with these struts and I also heard that even my 1.8" sportlines are kind of pushing it.

If you don't plan on going too low, I think the AGXs will be great for you.

I'm gonna be upgrading to Koni yellows later so I can lower my car more with H&R race springs.

Good luck.
