Default OBDI conversion makes car run irregular??????

Here is the problem. I have a 97 Accord LX with just minor bolt-on's. I-E.....Well I decided to switch to an OBDI setup. Well I bought the jumper and got a ECU from my friend and plugged it all in and the car barely ran. (By the way the ECU was out of an 94 Accord LX.) It wouldn't idol on its own and when I could get it to bring the RPM's up it was running irregular, poppin in the exhaust and what not. So I thought it could be that the ECU was making the car run rich plus the fact that the Air/fuel gauge was pegged out rich.(I know those are not accurate but it was another sign) So anyway I bought and V-afc also to try and correct the problem. (Got the v-afc intsead of afc because I am getting a H22 swap in less than a year.) Well I tried to mess with the fuel curve and idol and nothing got better so I went back to the stock ECU. Anybody know what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, I do not have a H22 right now. I have a F22B non-vtec. Which I got the OBD2<1 jumper harness for and a 94 LX ECU. For some reason this ECU does not idol properly and just does not run very well at all. What ECU do you guys think will work with my 97 Accord LX. Also by the way I have the AFC now so I can adjust the fuel.

Also to add another note. I tried my friends ECU today which was out of a 94 integra ls and it worked fine. The idol was perfect. The only thing is that it needed to be richened up a bit but thats what the AFC is for anyways. Keep in mind this is a F22 non-vtec not a h-22. Also will a Civic DX ECU work in my car if I tune the fuel curve.

try a junkyard to find the ecu you want and plug it in. Might be worth a shot to see if your friends ECU is bad.

sorry

This is all the time. The car doesn't stay on without me holding the gas a little bit. An experienced tech told me that the ECU will not work for my motor. He said something is diff in this ECU maybe like the timing is diff. for my motor or something else. He told me to get another ECU like off a single cam Civic and tune it with my AFC.

I checked your post again, if I recall correctly the OBD2 F22b2 has different crank angle sensors than the OBD1 f22b2 and this might be causing some bad juju with your ecu, telling it to pull/add timing when it is not necessary.

Thats the type of answer I was looking for. Thank you Accord94DX. Also, what other ECU do you think that I can use?
