teg r pistons and cams in b16?
Will this work or will the valves slam in to the pistons? If this does work, what are suggested valves, springs, pistons rings, rods, great power but still have reliability. Any and everything you can say will help me and i really would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Matt

I just rebuilt a b16a1 w/ usdm itr pistons. they have a smaller dome than the jdm itr. If yours was an auto, like mine, then you will need to upgrade the valve springs regardless. If it was a manual, then you should be ok if you go w/ gsr cams. I would upgrade them if you go w/ itr or more aggressive. You have to narrow the top of the connecting rods to fit the piston on, by 1mm. Also, the b16 rods can be replaced w/ shorter ones, like from a b17, if you want to gain clearance (or use a longer stroke b17 crank...). The rings and pins will work fine. I don't know about clearances w/ jdm pistons. One indicator might be if the jdm itr has a taller block, but uses the same length rod as the usdm itr. If that is not the case, since they use the same basic head, and the jdm b16 pistons have a similar dome displacement to the jdm itr, it would stand to reason that you wouldn't get interference. All this information is online, if you can only find it. Pretty high price to pay if you just take someone's word for it and don't figure out the geometery yourself. However, since I am using usdm itr pistons, then I can say that those are safe.
There is probably not going to be a problem with the pistons hitting the valves. The pistons themselves should not come up any higher above the deck on a B16A compared to a B18C5. And the B18C5 basically uses the same head. But you might want to have it checked if you have doubts.
