Hydrolock...? -=[
Well it started raining yesterday here in LA.. and today it started pouring. I was on my way to school this morning, when i started to hear this really loud bogging noise from under my car.. not sure where exacly...front or under the hood.. but it sounded something like popping or boiling water so i put it into neutral and just let it roll on its own.. till i started going too slow i put it in 4th and next thing you know the car just turned off on me, so i got scared and turned the key to turn it back on..on like my second try it turned back on. I wasnt that far from school, so i took it all the way. On the way back from school i took mostly the side streets... well thats the story.. now i'm at home and i got a question.. do i need to do that trick of pulling out the spark plugs and cranking the motor manually?? or do i just let it sit their and will the water dry out if theirs any in it?? is it anything i should worry about?? TIA
yeah its been raining ******* hardcore...
about your car... if it runs, it runs. no need to pull the plugs and crank it. if its running there is no water in your system. just revv it up for a while. what kind of intake do you have?

i wouldn't just leave it. let it run for like 15 minutes
i hope nothing happens.. i can't afford for my motor to break on me right now.
yea... think the valve is bent?? well i turned it on and left it on for 15 mins it sounds ok.. would it still turn on if i bent the valve?? the oil change im just going to do till the sun comes out.

you would know it if you hydrolocked. either 1. car would not run at all or 2. Loud clanking coming from under the hood (like someone beating on the block with a 5lb sledge). Like was said before, if it's running ... let it run
it is fine man I have had that happen a few times if it starts and runs than it is ok, just now u know when ur intake is suckin up all that water so u know better now
how much water has to fly thru the intake..... some homeboy told me that he drives it like that all the time.... and i have been driving my car all around town with the filter on.... i thought that you get hydrolock when alot of water goes into your system.... becouse the aem booth at sema had a intake sucking water from a tank.. and the water valve thing opened when the water got too heavy..... if it only takes a couple of drops of water to bust your block.... then the bypass valve doesnt work.....

If you're unlucky enough to hear a knocking sound, you're in a lil too deep...LoL
It does'nt take much time to suck in enough H2o to break a rod, or send one through the block. Your intake will devour water in no time flat, so if you had damage, you would have already known. You probably just got your distribtor wet...You're pretty fortunate.
u said u started to drive really slow then u put it in 4th and ur car shut off, maybe it bogged down below idle and stalled who knows
i doubt its damaged since it runs without any unusual sounds

that's what i did today.. I got so scared that I cut my AEM in half so i made it a short ram until the rains goes away i'll turn it back into cold air.

not to mention we (usually) get most of our rainfall in late January-late March, so be prepared....It aint over yet. Besides, we need the snowfall, too, I'm so depressed

its el nino season.
Like 2 weeks ago my intake sucked in water when I was cleaning my engine.... My car was making weird noises. I let it idle for like 20 mins and it's been fine since then.
