Hey, that was on speed vision a while back...when it was still speed vision. Was some sort of Ferrari convention thing.
Remember the commentator chuckling and saying how that little mistake cost that guy a lot of thousands of dollars
Doh!

What is odd from the driver’s perspective camera shot the pedestrian goes over the right fender. From the side view camera shot the pedestrian goes over the left fender. How does that happen?

ouch, expensive mistake, fortunately my vast french skills can translate that neither the driver or the other person were badly hurt.

heh, weird place to have a mini autocross course. Luckily the car wasn't going fast or else it would really suck to be that worker.

It's not tough to left-right mirror a video feed.. if you watch video clips on TV news and such, there are lots of times when they run a clip backwards (for no apparent reason)... especially for house fires for some reason. And less often, I notice things left-right mirrored (street signs are backwards).. I don't know enough about broadcasting, etc. to know how easy these swaps are to make accidentally..

regarding the incident itself, last time it was discussed (I think on this board), there was talk of slick surfaces/etc. almost seemed like some oil..

Holy crap, wtf was that course worker(?) doing so close to the course? Visually, that video does not make sense, the car was going way too slow not to be able to turn at all, slick surface or not... Hmmm...Wow...

I can't help it....LOL-LOL-LOL....ok I'm fine now...LOL

The course was definately wet, not sure about oil but it most likely makes sense. This kind of reminds me of what my integra did once at an intersection, when I was waiting at a light to turn left under an overpass. The weather was drizzly and as the light turned green I began the left turn - well I turned the wheel left at least. I was only going around 5mph, but the car was going straight with the wheel cranked all the way left. Everybody in the car was freaking out, telling me to turn, turn, stop, stop, STOP [no, I really do want to hit the other car...lol]! I did manage to stop before hitting the lead car waiting in the opposite side of the overpass. I'm sure it was oil on the road, even though I had the worst tires ever on the integra also - Goodyear Allseason Eagle Touring Craps (those tires can't even grip when it's dry! Would make a great chirping tire though... ).

So that F50 either hit a slick spot or he's running on Goodyear Allseason Eagle Touring Craps....or worse it's both! Anyways I don't think Bondo works on composite bodywork, no?

Vracer111, who will NEVER buy another Goodyear Allseason tire in his life (Not like he's bought any Allseason tires in a Looong time anyways.... ) because he had an experience very similar to that F50 with them.

LMAO!

Actually, I feel sorry for everyone involved in that situation. Reminds me of a vid from a Solo event involving a blue Corvette and a corner station. Someone did get hurt there. "always keep your eye on that car on course..."

That corvette video was just plain shocking - shocking on the drivers overthrottling part and shocking on the corner workers injury part. This one is hillarious - in an expensive sort of way. I'm going to watch it again...I love the horse sound effect they added in when you see ouside view of the F50 going down the embankment the first time... .

P.S. - I just thought of something about the F50 braking system - doesn't it have some ceramic or carbon composite rotors. So if that were the case then the brakes wouldn't be too effective going that slow in bad conditions. Yet you do hear the tires trying to stop the car. So the brakes must have been working, but not well enough right? And since you do hear the tire squealing against the pavement that would negate the oil slick theory I think.

Looks like another rich idiot who thinks he's a "car guy". Moron. Well, at least nature has a tendency to weed out jackholes like that. I honestly couldn't laugh at it...poor F40.

BTW: you don't need a helmet with a "krome dome" like that...the turtle wax (with Teflon additives) should let him slide on his head farther than that car did.

That's my clip, yoshi. haha

anyway, to answer some questions. the video shows an event that preluded the monaco GP back in '94/'95, when the F50, was released. it was an invitation only event for upcoming F50 owners (lesses rather, as Ferrari did not allow anyone to OWN an F50, so they had to lease the car for 2 years, then buy it. this was done to stop people from 'flipping' the car, and making a sizable profit, sans Ferrari SpA getting a cut) to demo the car, and get a 'feel' for it. it was setup in the streets of monaco, and was a very causal affair. im unclear as to what exactly happened, but it's been intimated, over and over again, that the throttle stuck on that car, hence the crash. the f50 does not have carbon/ceramic brakes; the enzo however, does. the 'incident' happened to a demo f50 w/ 300 miles on the clock, and caused an estimated 20k in repairs, to the car, alone. also, the f50 has no ASR or ABS.

also, that is 'flipped' footage you're seeing.

hope that answers some questions.

I remember seeing this footage a few years...cant remember where....prolly the good ol Speedvision.
I thought the cause of this was due to the driver hitting the gas and brake pedal at the same time. Must of been wearing some wide-*** Doc Martin boots.
