CRX D16Z6 swap
Does anybody have a D16Z6 swap in a 88-91 CRX Si that lives in California and used all of the 4G parts ( intake manifold, harness, ecu) with a D16Z6 long blockand got it smog certified? (www.geocities.com Mechanic_B's d16z6 swap)I have heard it is smog referee certified form one source. Another source says you must use all 5G components in order for it to be smog legal. I am pretty confused on how to change all the wiring for an OBD1. I just want to know if the use of a vtec controller with 4G parts can be smogged if somebody has done it since it will be a lot easier or do I have to use all 5G parts and wiring? Please help!
Although people do occasionally get such setups past techs and refs here in California, I would not COUNT on passing with this setup. In any case, using a PM6 ECU to run a D16Z6 is halfassing it in the worst possible way. Such setups generally don't run well and produce little (if any) power advantage beyond a straight D16A6. Do the job right and run the P28.
