Default What is the difference between 1993 Civic's and 1994 Civic's braking system?

The reason I ask is because I was doing some research on upgrading brakes and the Wilwood kit seemed to be pretty good for the price. Summit racing has a good deal going with that kit but they only list 94-01 Civics. I called them and the guy didn't sound too sure about why 93 was excluded.

Anyone here know why? Like i said its a pretty good deal. I'd like to jump on it when I have the money but I need a definitive answer. Thanks in advance.

Hurrell:

The 1992-1993 Si/EX front rotors and calipers are smaller than the 1994-1995 Si/EX ones.

Some 1994-1995 Civics came with ABS and a 7/8ths master cylinder too, while we got the non-ABS and 13/16ths m/c. i'm pretty sure I've seen some non-ABs ones with the 7/8ths m/c too though. i'll be sure to pay attention next time we get any 1994-1995 Civics in.

I think that might be the main difference - I can't think of any more though.

Anyone else know others?

I know my 94 Si does not have ABS, has a 13/16's m/c and has the same size rotors as all other 92-93 hatches, including my neighbors VX. VX rims fit over my rotors, I think they';re 9.8 or so. The only difference non ABS Si's have is the m/c and the rear disc.

Are Si rotors and calipers the same size as those on GSRs?

Or is it that GSR brakes are the same as the Si braking systems with ABS?

I am just wondering what braking system I can fit under my VX wheels as I need something soon and opted not to go with a 5 lug conversion. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

So scaling down what you guys are saying.....I'm thinking it'll work regardless then. I was planning on upgrading the proportioner and M/C to Integra units anyway and getting steel braided brake lines.

So is the general consensous it will work?

i think gsr front and rear brakes are the same as eg si/ex brakes w/abs. I have a 92 si and the front brakes sucked until i put gsr fronts on. But my friend has a 94 si w/abs and his fronts look just like mine now.

true. The ABS 92-95 Civics are the same as Integra braking systems.

non ABS 92-95 Civics all have the same size front rotors, but the Si has rear disc as well.

Because I'd rather spend 600 bux on some really good brakes instead of paying 1000-1500 for an extra lug, decent brakes and the added issues of wheel exclusivity.
