Default Spoon throttle body

Just need some thoughts. I had just finished installing a Spoon sports throttle body on my friends 99 GSR. His current mods are skunk 2 manifold, AEM cold air intake for a type r, dc sports 4-1 header, and apexi n1 catback exhaust. My question is if it is normal to here a whistling noise. I was worried it might be a throttle body leak. Any help is well appreciated.

well i would double check all of your vaccuum lines, but if your getting a whistle whenthe butterfly/throttle is closed, i would definitely think you have a problem.

Is it from his intake?

Well the whistling only occurs during acceleration. But as the rpms get higher the whistling goes away. Any other thoughts? Thanks for all replies so far.

Did this happen before when he had the intake? Does it happen at a certain throttle position?

It does happen at a certain throttle position. If it happened before? My friend said it did, but i guess i'm just worried because I feel responsible if anything is wrong with it.

the exact same thing happens with my bored jdm h22 64mm throttle body. I have noticed no defects or reprocutions from this effcet. I installed the TB by itself so i know it is the case, but mine happens around 2-3.5k...how about your friends? I say, just let the car sing!

I think this is normal because I have a 95 GSR with just about the same modifications and it happened to me to...So its nothing to get all worked up about...

i think it has to do with the skunk2 manifold, a few people that i know, including myself that after installing the manifold there is a pronounced high pitched wisseling at lower rpms, in might have just been increased with the tb

Contact rockwilda on this board. He has the Spoon throttle body and could help you with this question.

He's also a very good guy and always willing to help someone.

[Edit] Also, AEM intakes had a tendency to whistle.
