lowered cars clear vehicle lift in shops?
ive never had the privilage to own a lowered car...and im about to do so and now im worried about the clearance with the vehicle lift they have at auto shops...am i just shitting for nothing or do u guys lift the car with coilovers before taking ur car in?
mine clears w/ 2.25 inch drop and side skirts. when i work on the car on base, i think i had to lift up the fender by hand to slide the lift extensions underneath the car.
so what would be an ideal height to lower? 1.5 ~ 2 inches?
I'm not exactly sure on how many inches my car is lowered (1 finger gap with stock rims and 205/50/15 tires) but I've had no problems with shops and their lifts. If your car is too low, they'll usually jack it up from the rear and then slip the lift arms underneath. But since there are different lifts in different shops, I can't say the same for them all.
i have koni yellows/comptech springs on my integ. i haven't run to any problems at shops with my car being lowered and my car is slammed, however i tend to take my cars to places that have the flat lifts that are only like an inch or 2 off the ground. however when i try working on my car along its sometimes a challenge to getting the floor jack under the car. so that's about the only time i've ever considered raising it other than that every shop i've taken it to i've had no problems. i take my car to the same places though and they've always been careful with my lowered car.

Any respectable shop should be able to get you on their lift with extensions or boards. If they can figure that much out I definitely wouldn't trust them to touch anything else on your car!
yea, even i have the neuspeed race and have had lifts that i can't get on at first but... the guys at most shops can figure a way to get it on. But alot of places can get it on still wit no modifications to their lift or any kind of ramp or anything.
Hell i can roll onto the lifts at Acura of Riverside no problem haha.. same wit Pasadean Acura too. hm... now that i think about it... i've had too much car trouble.. .this sucks.

what we did in autoshop was jack up the car. if we were really lazy then we would just drive it over some wood blocks

Like stated before, any respectable shop should be able to find a way to get the car onto the rack, if it has a problem in teh first place. It isn't too much of a pain to do it. We work with all sorts of cars at my High school autoshop and run into every problem you could think of...
I had Eibach sportlines and Koni Yellows on my car and I didn't have many problems w/ my car getting on the lift... different shops have different types of lifts... and I did most of my own work so didn't have much experience taking my car into the shop.. just for stuff like alignment or other stuff I couldn't do myself...
the shops I went to w/ the "X" type lift/support (it looks kind of like an "X" where the support can move to where the cars jacking points are) didn't have a problem w/ my car.... some alignment racks which were steeper they would have a 2nd guy place some wood blocks for the car to roll up so that the front end and the rear (muffler) wouldn't scrape while it was driving on the inclined alignment rack..

the honda dealership i work at have these long wooden planks to deal with all the slammed honda/acuras that come in. i got my car on the rack last week w/ the planks but i still scraped
. oh yea..the alignment rack is tricky also

how hard are the alignment racks to get onto? i plan on goin into acura for a 4wheel alignment really really soon.. i have a coupon for like 66 bucks.
If your car is too low, some alignment racks won't work. We use a Hunter, and if the car is too low, the front sensors cannot communicate with each other. The beam is blocked so the sensors can't "see" each other.
I use our lifts all the time here at work. You just have to lift up on the wheel well a little to get the lift arms under the car.
you think thats hard... try getting a smog check
well i have had car washes turn me down (yes i can be lazy sometimes) and most shops will use boards to get it on the lift , alot of shops will ask you to drive it up on the lift i rather do that that some mechanic that doesnt want to work on your car and doesnt car about it
When you go to a shop just bring some boards just in case they dont have any but any shop that knows what they are doing will have them and know what to do with them.. It's very common to have a lowered car so i would think that most shops would be prepared for that... Dont worry it's not a big deal...
The lower that better
The lower that better
you can jus put ?chucks?(hows it spelled?) or peices of wood to lenghten the ramp height and decrease the incline...or u can take off ur front bumper?
