Default Gsr Abs

How does the GSR ABS compare to the Type-R one? From what I have researched the TypeR ABS is really close to threshold braking and really worthy. How does it compare to the GSR one? Anyone out there tried to disable(not remove) ABS on the track and see if it braking distances will improve? Please share your expreinece!!

Thank you!

Rado

The ABS is the same. Though 97 and older cars had a different design. The older ABS is an NEC computer and the modulator was a closed system with it's own fluid. The 98+ model uses a Nissin computer and the modulator is much smaller pulling fluid from the main resevior.

I have no data on the performance of each unit, but the 98+ is a much better system with much faster pulses. I would guess more then 2X just from feel. The pedal feel is much better on the 98+ system as well.

EDIT: I prefer to use the ABS on track. The 98+ is very track worthy. There are several folks on here who run the older system as well. I now have an older car, so I will know in 2 weeks how it feels on track. Thus far I have only experienced the older system on the street.

Really?

The ABS on my 2000 GS-R sucked...

The better brakes of a Type-R make it THAT much better?

Sucked? As compaired to what? There are cars with much worse feeling ABS then the 98+ Integra.

Maybe I'm spoiled... I just figured Honda would've caught up in the 5 years between models... ('93 vs. '98 ) And I hear such fantastic things about the ITR ABS, I figured it was a unique design...
