who do i CHANGE OIL?
dont laugh. I dont know how to do an oil change on my 5th gen coupe. I've been taking it to the honda dealer for $30 every 3g miles but it gets too be expensive and i think i should know how to change my own oil by now. Would someone be willing to help me out and give me detalied step by step instructions and what all i need to buy for an oil change? like do i need a new oil fitler and if so, what kind? Sorry for such a dumb post, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

1: go to walmart and buy 5 quarts of oil, try 10-40weight, that's safe. While you're there, reference the fram code for your car, grab that filter.
That should set you back ~$11.
2: (I'm also assuming you have access to a floor jack and a set of jack-stands) Hit the jack point of your car, I use the sub-frame under the radiator, lift that bitch up. Place the jack-stands under the proper points on each side of the vehicle(near the front of the doors, under the car there are some metal tabs), remove the jack. Now, get a 17mm socket and free up the oil drain plug, be prepared for 4.3 Qts of oil gushing out: meaning have a drain pan or a bucket ready.
3: Once the oil has stopped dripping, replace the plug(and the washer) and get ready to drop the filter. The filter should'nt be too tight, but anticipate the worst. Oil will also come gushing from there, so be prepared with a rag/towel.
4: Once you have the filter off, grab the new one, take a finger full of some oil and lube the rubber gasket of the filter to prevent binding(this is important). Torque the filter to hand tight and add 1/2 to 3/4 turn(you don't want this too tight or you'll never get it off).
5: You're ready to add the new oil. This is no big deal. Just open the fill cap and dump 4 quarts into your motor.Check the dipstick to insure you've hit the 2nd mark(hence the 5th quart of oil you bought). Chech your work and drop the car and you're on your way...It's pretty simple
A side note: some people say to pour oil into the new filter before you install it ,but it's a matter of opinion.
I'd also pick up a filter wrench. I like the type that looks like a big funny pair of pliers, they work the best. Buy the oil by the box if you plan on doing it yourself all the time. I'd run 5w30 if you're easy on the car & will change it at 3k every time or 10w30 if you like to run it a little hard. I'd only go higher than that if I was burning a little.....
I'm just going to emphasize the use of jackstands. jacks do fall over or collapse more often than you'd think. using jackstands keeps your mellon from getting squished by a falling car.
