Took delivery with 2 miles. That's the least mileage I've ever taken delivery of a new vehicle of! Put on 1 mile before remembering to take a pic of the odo.

It is Type R related because the new car would be attending the Type R Expo!

Nice 4Runner!! That is on my short list of tow vehicles.
So how does it drive??

One thing I'm really surprised and amazed is the X-REAS suspension. It transfer fluid in the suspension dampers diagonally when cornering, making the car has very little body roll despite the tall ride height. That thing really works. I test drove a Limited (top of the line with leather and everything, but no X-REAS) and car rolled in corners like what I was expecting. But with X-REAS, the car hardly roll! Big plus for anyone who is looking into buying one.
As for towing, the rated capacity is 5000#. It's enough for my application. But something I don't quite understand. The Land Cruiser and Sequoia use the exact same engine and tranny, and they are 1000# heavier in curb weight, BUT their towing capacity is more at 6500#. Maybe the chassis and suspension on the 4Runner is the limiting factor? With 320 tq, towing 5000# would be a piece of cake.

i see you got the V8...do they have the 6 out yet? and are you aware the V6 is gonna be more powerful than the 8, and weigh about 200 lbs. less? Pretty sure they have the same towing capacity too...
XREAS is pretty sweet, that was the one vehicle i got to go to a product intro for in my brief stint as a toyota salesman...

They do have the same towing capacity. And after inquiring for opinions in the racing forum, they all seem to favor higher torque than horsepower for towing (even for highway towing). So here it is: the V8 4Runner.

Very nice..... that was on my short list also before I purchased my Tahoe. I almost bought the 4-Runner Sport but I didn't like the dealer, he tried to charge me $4k over sticker. Then when I walked out laughing at him, he said he would ask his manager to wave the $4k. But it was already too late.
But all in all it was a really nice truck.

Hey Wai, nice truck, hope it provides you many years of trouble free service.
Regarding the tow rating...I found it to be quite peculiar. I was having an argument with my friend who is a Ford fan. He was rooting for Explorer V8 as the best midsize SUV, and me making the same argument for the 4runner.
I couldn't convince him that the 4runner was the better truck because it could only tow 5000lbs with a more powerful V8, yet the Explorer can pull 7000lbs with a less powerful V8.
Now if I use Chris's argument, "It takes weight to tow weight," nothing seems to make sense, for I believe the 4Runner is the bigger and heavier truck. So any towing experts have any insight on this?

We also have to look at the GCVW (vehicle + trailer + passenger + luggages). That can give 500# to 1000# difference depends on how the manufacturer presents it in their brochures.

Yes but the V8 has 6 bolt mains and forged everything, good for at least 500hp stock.......mmmmmm add a couple of turbos and you'll be able to tow anything you want.
