I've been looking through threads & only notice 14 cars @ the race. Could I get a breakdown of individuals, please!? Also, do any of them post here??

H1 had 5 cars on Saturday, 6 cars on Sunday.
-Glen Kawano (DC Sports WC ITR)
-Jeff Owen (USTCC ITR)
-Andy Hope (91 CRX B16A)
-Sandor Bota (96 DC2 LSVTEC)
-Bernardo Martinez (HASport DC2 sedan, H22A)
-some green crx on sunday

Nobody in H2 or H3

H4 had several ITA CRX's and an ITA EF Civic.

H5 had 2 cars on Saturday, 1 car on Sunday.
-92 Civic CX
-99 Civic Si (In H5 because it was SS prepped)

 

What about results w/ laptimes and so forth..

 

Shawn has already posted his a couple times, and I'm sure Glen will mention his eventually too. I will ask Andy if he remembers his at all. I know he ran a 1:33.x on Sunday. If we'd had time to get some shaved tires I think he would have run a better time. Regardless, that's a personal best for him at Willow Springs, not a bad way to start off the season.

 

i was really surprised to hear that andy ran a 33. i think it was when he was black flagged on the qualifying race. he was really pushing that car to keep up with me...unless he did the 33 while the silver shark was chasing him down for that one lap. man i got video of it too. sorry i had to blow by like that andy. i know its fun to lead the race.

i really dont think shaved tires would have done the trick tho. dont shaved tires just preserve tire life preventing chunking? i only shaved my tires 1/32 from full tread. i didnt chunk thankfully. no heat cycle in them either!

sounds like a pretty good weekend tho for me and hope doing personal best times!

Yes Shawn, it was during the race where he got black flagged. still not sure if he ran that time before or after the flag, but I'm guessing after.
His car was getting wiggly coming into turn 9, and skating a bit on turn 2. I'm pretty sure it was the tires; Andy is used to shaved.

Yah, SBE pulled a 1:31:886 from some magical moment durring the qualifying race on saturday.....but yah everyone was really fast this past weekend...im looking for some really serious action for Fontana...hope to see more people out in the H1 calss.

 

Are you guys that run with other groups (specifically TCRA) going strictly Honda Challenge this year? Or will you run with TCRA as well?

I am still trying to sell my Celica and will hopefully join the HC (H1) later this year.

I also am curious what other NASA groups are on track with the HC. Separate green flags or not?

 

Good question. I think that some of us will still run TCRA events as well, it just depends on the costs. There is at least one weekend where both groups are racing at the same time (June 21-22). I think more people will be at the next HC race since there's more time to prep, and some of those will be guys from TCRA testing the NASA/HC waters.

They ran Pro Sedan, Spec Miata, Super Unlimited, and SER Cup on the track at the same time. HC had it's own green with a split start, and the rest of the cars had another one. I'm not sure if they will divide it up into more groups as participation increases.

 

I guess I will have to see how TCRA is affected. Since I race TCRA I was wondering what the fields will be like in the future if drivers have to choose series over the other.

I really dislike the idea of multiple green flags. Anyone know what the point is? The cars will mingle anyway at some point. Seems like the race would be more fulfilling with more cars in close quarters regardless of the class they are in.

 

OH yeah..if anybody has an extra Integra sitting around..I'd be happy to drive it
