Replacement Oxygen Sensors on B16-- Do you guys recommend a Bosch Universal?
I tried searching for info on the one-wire sensors, but couldn't find anything. Would you suggest Bosch or another brand?
When I go to the auto parts store, do I just ask for Bosch Universal one-wire ones, or do I tell them I have a JDM B16 (first-gen with 2 sensors) engine? Is there a part number? And how much do they cost?
Thanks!

id go to one of the discount honda oem parts... most of the none oem ones are junk... but who knows maybe bosch even makes them for honda... id ask a honda store and see who they are manufactured by and cut out the honda franchise to save 50 or so bucks

i went to western auto aout close to my place. Its a mom and pops place but I just got a universal o2 sensor and it works fine. my car idled better and milage went up. Its been about 7 months and my milege hasnt gone down yet. All the guys asked was if it was one or two wire. I guess the mostly have the same tolerances
I'd go with NGK, the stock honda o2 sensors are made by NGK. Just order 'universal one wire' for honda, that's what i'm using on my b16a1 and they work perfect.
The price difference between honda and an auto performance shop is amazing, you wouldn't believe it! Honda wanted $250 AUD each
. NGK from auto shop $45 AUD each
. The only difference with the ones from honda are that they have the plug attached to go straight into the harness, they charge an extra $205 AUD just for the stock plug
Here's the part number i used: OZA401-E71
Hope this helps you out.
Regards
Shaun.

Get one from oxygensensors.com. They are affordable too and look stock. The ones from here have lasted the most amount of time for me. The bosch last for me about 2 months max. Thats just me though.

Are those Australian dollars? Also, that part # is an NGK number, right? Thanks a lot for the info!

I've tried every local parts store and nobody carries the NTK (NGK brand) sensors...they only carry Bosch. I can only find them online at http://www.sparkplugs.com
Has anyone found these locally or should I just go with the Bosch?

just get he bosch, they are a quality sensor. the universal or the OEM is fine. if you get the universal you need to reuse the old connector but that will allow you to custom length it if you have an aftermarket header.
I've always had good luck with bosch. They heat up pretty quick, and have great response time.
I have run volvo and saab o2 sensors in the past as well, which are also
made by bosch if i remember correctly.

Yeah, I was going to go with the Bosch, but I've read a lot of mixed reviews on them here on H-T. Many people say they've never had any problems, but many others (like in this thread) have said that they're crap and they have to replace them every month.

yeah i think i am goign to replace my o2 sensors. if you go to advanced auto or something there like 19 bucks a pop. now times it by 2.
What brand/kind do you suggest then? NTK??
Also, how would I check to see if my stock ones even need to be replaced?

I guess I'll go with the Bosch (part# 11027). I found it for $24 each locally. Is that price about right?

i read in another post that each O2 sensor has a different frequency or something, which is why when u switch them the car runs differently. I assumed this was true and so wouldnt you need to get 2 different O2s for different frequency??
Each sensor has a different plug on the end that corrosponds to the same color plug on the harness, a green plug and a white plug. The sensors themselves are exactly the same. White plug goes to the sensor on the #2 manifold runner(primary), Green plug goes to sensor on #4 manifold runner(secondary), if you try the opposite way it runs like **** coz the ecu is getting the wrong readings, it's all got to do with primary and secondary not different sensors.

What application are you guys who actually bought O2 sensors for the JDM B16A1 asking for?
just replaced my o2 sensors on my jap b16. i used two universal bosch o2 sensors. works great! i can prove it cause before i changed the o2 sensors i failed horribly during emissions. changed both of them and passed everything easily. i was impressed. stick with bosch if you ask me, cheap and works just fine.
