Odessy Brake Swap/Rear Conversion Question
i presume, that someone had swapped a 5thgen accord lug with the 1st gen odyssey brakes! but my question is, with the drums in the back, what could it be replaced with in terms of other cars rear discs??
hey dood how have you been? long time no see. I assume the rear oddessey brakes should bolt up... unless they are drums?
thing about the 5-lug up front, you are gonna have to find 11" 5-lug rotors for your legend calipers? maybe 5th gen preludes?

yea they are disks. But for the fronts, i think the stock size is 10" in diameter? so you might nee dto find a 11" rotor for larger calipers.

check http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. I'm guessing odesseys based off the 5th gen (1st gen odessey) had rear discs, and the newer ones have rear drums.
98 ex has rear drums
95 ex/lx has rear discs
it seems 99 was the year they changed various parts of the oddessey. I think the front rotors are fairly large on the 99 model, and "look" like 28mm wide, maybe 11 or 12" diameter. The earlier models look like 10" or at most 11" diameter rotors.
from waht i checked

dunno about the 4-pot calipers... if they use the stock TypeR bracket than maybe. Since someone used NSX calipers on accord wagon brackets, and ITR calipers are similar if not exactly the same as accord wagon calipers, and NSX calipers should be similar to legend ones, if all is good, it might fit on your legend brackets.
as far as the first gen oddessey suspension, i dont know the rotor size up front... but i think u need 11" and larger right? the 2nd gen look like they have similar rotor specs, just larger diameter, could use those rotors w/ the first gen suspension and first gen rear disc brake suspension and rotors. all is still speculation thou, u gotta ask around some more

i work for honda and we do on car cuts, to cut the front rotors. Every honda has the same caliper bracket bolt patern, (other then the P.O.S. Passport)
7000-8000??? r u kidding me??? just for calipers??? must be a typo! hehe
but damn, i thought someone had done this swap before! ya see! my idea was to have the suspension, 5lug, rear discs and to use the typeR 4pot calipers!!!
can someone dish me another opinion! no offense typeSH!!..just need more feedback before i start making fone calls!!

yea i know its a typo
I wouldnt shell out $$ for hte prices they list for calipers anyways. Used/rebuilt ones are cheaper.
and its cool, I'm not 100% sure on everything, but i do read a lot of crud over a couple of honda/accord boards, so thats what I've put together.

shopping for a 25T bracket. Im think stock/NSX/Legend/V6 calipers will all work on that, and it fits the 25mm wide wagon rotors perfectly... so I'm gonna then look for a set of calipers, still trying to find one. it seems buying rebuilts = no bracket, and not all junkyards are selling calipers w/ the brackets, so I gotta find the bracket first.
Eyeing 16" TE-37 knockoffs w/ new tires for this summer, and the freakin 5th gear grind still there, but gonna run til my motor dies and get the full h22 swap... whether it be timing belt/water pump failure, to motor dying or what not. Dont want to pay a few hundred for timing belt work, then for fixing the tranny, and new clutch/axles when I could just get a swap.

sherwood green pearl, basically dark green.
why does this thread seem so dead? nobody else is interested in a 5-lug, rotor-over-hub swap, and particularly options for using large brakes in the front as well??

whaaata bunch of jabroni's! hehe lol...whatever, its all good!!
u'd think that when ppl r building there car to go faaast, they would realize u need goood solid faaaast braking! :>
man, did i tell u im more than likely using forced induction?? turbo is the game!!

another good perk of a 5-lug is you can slap on a lot of stock honda/acura wheels. 5th gen lude, 6th gen accord v6, 2nd gen CL's and TL's, S2k's (i think they are 5x114.3?), among others.
4x114.3 just sucks, only have like prelude and 1st gen CL as wheel swap options.
what are the bolt patterns for 1st/2nd gen NSX, RSX, and ITR wheels? I keep forgetting if the itr/rsx are 5x100 or 5x114.3.

the offsetting is far off by the bolt pattern is the same with the older 4 bolt nissans!
having 4 x 114.3 isnt bad, infact its good! i just simply want the 5 bolt cause its different on an accord! hehe
the reason why its good is so that theres a muuuuch smaller chance of ur wheels getting jacked!!
the rsx/nsx/and s2000 all have 5 x 114.3 although the nsx and s2000 prove useless because of the size of tires up front to back! its wider! :> u could, but....??

well the s2k wheels come in 16x7.5" and 16x6.5" (r/f), so 6.5" wide wheels would be perfect. Not to mention they look relatively lightweight and should be reliable.
The nsx wheels came in 15x6.5" and i think 16x7 and 16x8 sizes, 7" wide wheels should work if the offsets are right.
