Found BEST CRX EVER! (junkyard *rare parts*)
Went to the junkyard today to find a climate control unit that wasn't cracked. In turn, I found a black 91 with every single honda OEM optional parts offered! Had the armrest, fog lights, CD player under radio, rear speaker kit, etc. I sniped almost everything except for the armrest which someone got before me (damnit!). The CD player I will be putting in my crx but the fogs I already have so I will be selilng them here or on ebay. It comes with switch, wiring, brackets and everything. Only thing is that the passenger side's glass is broken, sucks.
All in all, it was a great find. For some reason I love junkyards, here on Long Island there are plenty of import ones.
BTW: The climate control was cracked...god damnit! Also, Bryant and CRXgator get first dibs on the fogs!

Very nice man!
Kinda like my wrecking yard here... some weird and unusual stuff present... like a DPFI sohc ZC in an 88 hatch
or the civics that have integra seats, consoles, etc.

I know how you feel thats exactly how I felt when I picked up my #2 parts car and it came with all of the factory goodies. The only thing this one didnt have is the armrest otherwise it had them all and the guy even included a factory CRX car cover that was like brand new and also a factory CRX manual.

yeh my climate control is pretty broken...does anyone know how this happened on these cars? i didnt know it was so common...i figured i could go to any junkyard and pick one up that wasnt broken...why do they break so easily?

finding an undamaged heater control panel in the junkyard would truely be a rare find. the design of the crx panel creates stress in an area that becomes weak with age...lending itself to cracking apart. only the crx used this panel so finding a replacement is not going to be easy....however if you are willing to look around and be creative with some wiring and some epoxy then who knows what you might come up with.
no it is NOT plug and play it does take a bit of rewiring but it does fit and no i am not interested in making anymore

the fan speed switch from the accord is for a five speed not four speed so i used a switch from a 88-91 prelude...not exact fit but way close enough..if i could have found the one from a 94-97 accord it is four speed and same size as 90-93
the heater temp control is the hardest part,,,i used the control and cable section from a broken crx unit...epoxied into place with some stuff called "plastic weld" that i got from walmart...that stuff holds to plastic the best out of anything i have ever tried. the accord panel is almost exactly the same size as the hole so the only thing i had to do was epoxy 2 L shaped brackets onto the sides and drill the holes for screws. the wiring wasn't a big deal because i got both the crx and the accord schematic and just figured it out (the colors don't match and the connector isn't even close).

Good finds. My 89 CRX Si came with every available option except for the CD player or EQ. I have the original hatch louvers out in my shed. I almost sold them for next to nothing before I found out how rare they are. I also have both near mint floormats, I took the driver's side out replaced with a WallyWorld truck mat. None of it's for sale.......
A guy on ebay's selling aluminum covers to fit over broken CRX climate controls for around $20. They have cuts outs for the light parts and look good in his pictures.
