First time at the track...
(I'm car #682)
Timeslip #1
Timeslip #2
Timeslip #3
Ahh, it was beautiful
. I now know I have the slowest reaction time out of anyone!! I blame it on not understanding how the Pro Tree works... LOL
.
Spent the morning working out, then spent the afternoon working on my car (getting it set for the track - draining coolant, replacing MTF, removing subwoofers, etc). Made it to the track about 6pm, and through tech in about 30 seconds. Glad I spent so much time prepping so they could NOT check it
.
They were having computer problems at the track, so it was a free-for-all. Grudge matches the entire night. I hopped in my car and went to the lineup alone, hoping to find someone else there before I made it to the line. Apparently I wasn't the only one... I lined up with a Civic Si coupe with (from what I could tell) the usual boltons. A quick chirp to scrape up some new rubber, then it was up to the line... I was so nervous I was practically shaking. Got set on the line, the lady dropped the green flag before I was set, and I bogged it all to hell! I then peeled out through 1st, squealed a bit on the 1-2 shift, and rapidly caught up to - then passed - the Civic. Yay - my 1st dragstrip victory! Unfortunately, no timeslip
. At least my brother got some pictures!
Second time around, I went straight back to the lineups. My brother got confused and wandered around... I ended up lining up with a Ford Explorer truck after being showered with rocks and tire goo from a built Outlaw car. I felt honoured
. A quick burnout and up to the line... I was a little more prepared this time off the line, but the truck DESTROYED me off the line and just kept pulling away! I even chirped third and he just kept getting away
. First dragstrip loss... I spoke to him in the next lineup and evidently it was powered by a 351 Windsor, so I don't feel bad at all!!
I picked up my brother for the third run, then went and waited in the line again. My brother took a couple pictures in the staging lanes, and I lined up with a Civic SiR with at least an exhaust. They got the timing system running again... GREAT... my first timed run and my brother's in the car
! Oh well... Again, I screwed up the launch, but I absolutely left that poor SiR in the dust! Timeslip
After pulling onto the sidelines to watch, I was approached by a guy with a stock CRX (just an AEM)... so I went with him. 50 minutes later, finally made it to the staging lanes... a quick burnout, then up to the line. Launched at 3000rpm, and completely burned out (complete with wheelhop!) before getting moving
. Stuck with me through 1st, and then I just left him behind... Timeslip
Final run of the night, I took my brother along again. Lined up with a Blazer at the line, and again thought I had a chance... *buzzer* wrong! As you can tell from the timeslip , he slaughtered me
.
All in all a fun night!
