"modability" of an 85 crx
I found an 85 crx aroudn here, i know what to look for and all, im not sure if its a std si or hf, but anywho, if i do end up buying it can i consider the chassis the same as the 88-91 chassis? I.E. Buy 88-91 civic/crx struts and pop them in etc. I'll also be throwing in my 4wd drive train as well.
Nope the stuff from 88-91 is different the suspension is completely different for 1st gen CRX's. Instead of independent rear they have basically a dead rear axle that everything is mounted to. Pay very close attention to rust behind the seats they are known for rusting real bad in that area and what happened to me is it got so rusty behind the seats that the "Dead axle" actually seperated from the chassis of the car so I could grab onto the rear drivers side wheel and move it back and forth without the rest of the car moving pretty scary if you ask me.
well heck, no need for me to die, and i suppose i'll pass on the crx, im only really looking for one to swap my drive train in, and i'd rather not burden myself if i don't have to. thanks for the info

do a damn search, will ya. this topic has been covered to death, and don't say you didn't find anything, because i participate in alot of the 84-87 threads, so i know they're out there.
but just so you know, you won't be throwing any 4wd system into anything Honda that didn't come with it stock.
