Removing A/C on 90 CRX Si, need missing tube from under dash
I've been reading lately about removing the A/C from my CRX and before I start the project I would like to have all the parts (or part) that I need. I am looking for the tube/passthrough piece that goes in place of the A/C box under the dash. If anyone has one lying around please let me know! Thanks!
Will a Civic one work or does only the CRX one fit?? I am also planning on removing my A/C but I can find more Civic's W/O air than CRX's. So if a Cvic one would work that would be cool or I would just keep looking for a CRX one.
Couldn't tell you really, I haven't seen either side by side. Probably will, if anyone knows feel free to let us know. The reason I ask if anyone has any of these lying around is a while ago I saw a post where someone said they had like 2-3 and was just giving em away for shipping costs. Wasn't able to find that post again though
Yeah this would be good to know especially I too would like to have the parts before I pull it all out plus I would like to get that rubber piece to block the holes from the lines.....
I'm guessing your reasoning behind this is because you want an entire AC system just in case you want to put it back later. You could take out the evaportor, unclip it's container, and remove the three screws. Then remove the evaporator and put it's housing back together. Make sure to tape up the spot where the thermostat connector left the housing and where the two tubes left the housing. Now put the clips back, the three screws and put the housing back in the car. This will make it just act as an air passage. As for those two holes if you leave your factory piece they work great as grommets for large wires (if you are going to relocate your battery).
I just did this two nights ago, here's a tip, make sure you get the single 10mm Nut on the bottom of the evaporator, its difficult to see.

From what I'm guessing he means that in cars not equipped with AC there is a piece of air passage that replaces the spot where the eveaporator would go. So from the blower to another piece of passage.

My teacher got mine from the salvage yard for me. I didnt ask what car it was from, but the day he gave it to me he was telling me all about this 90 civic si that was in near perfect shape sitting in the yard, I assume it was from that car, so civic should work. You should look for part numbers to be certain. Online, or call the dealer. Ryan
Yah I'm not planning on ever restoring the A/C to my car but I would like to have a complete kit to resell or even just to free up some room under the dash... I'm really picky about having wasted space in my car, like a big empty taped up box sitting there... out of sight, yet constantly clawing my mind.
i might have what you are looking for, but i don't know what you mean exactly...
i IM'd you...

I would like to know if the Civic is the same as the CRX?? Anyone know if the non-a/c tube is the same for civic and crx??
Wait there is more parts of the AC inside the car? I've removed all outside parts but the condensor. Where is this stuff inside the car I want to get rid of that to. Is it the big box behind the glovebox?
I take it is the large box at the top. How hard is it to get out?

Ohhh ok. Is it just a tube? Why not order one from hondaautomotiveparts.com, a tube can't be that expensive.
Yeah but if I could find one in the junkyard it would only be a few bucks and plus I wouldnt have to wait for it to be shipped to me.
Since you guys know what this part looks like can one of you find it on hondautomotiveparts.com, cuz all junkyards here are wet and full of snow, I'm not trying to go out and find some part.

im sure they have it there but... what would it be called? its not in the heater or A/C sections for Dx or Si.
