Default Whats needed for a B18c1 swap into a G2 Integra LS?

I'm researching on how to do this swap into a generation 2 integra ls. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Never done a swap before, don't plan on doing it myself, but i would like to gather all the information i can on what parts i need to complete the installation successfully. So far this is what i have

-B18c1 complete longblock (throttle body, IM, head, block, exhaust manifold, tranny, etc)
-GSR Engine harness
-'94-'95 OBD1 p72 ecu

are we talking a 90-91 g2 or a 92-93, because one is non obd and one is obd1

actually its a
'91 Integra LS, 5 spd
'95 B18c1 w/ 90k miles

we want to know what we need to do the swap. HASport doesnt make a swap kit for it, Im assuming thats because its a direct bolt up? - being both b18's.

Areas of concern:
- VTEC engine in a non VTEC car (wireing, sensors etc?)
- Shift linkage (are both direct linkage?, what about the linkage length?)

Thx

Theres a very good article which explains much more than this on g2ic.com .. under teg tips.

Anyway, what your going to have to do is swap some of the b18a stuff over to the b18c1. such as distrib.

You probably will want to convert the non obd to obd1.

Well theres the obd issue, but also, i believe those tegs are cable clutch, so the 95 tranny will not work being its hydrolic, you will need a cable flywheel and cable tranny unless u get that conversion kit.

i have the swap in my car but its a 92 (obd1)
since you have a 90-91 ( non-obd )
you will
need

-pr3 ecu or p72 ecu with a ecu jumper 0bd1 to 0bd0
- b16 disributer
- use you injectors 90-91
- b16 cable tranny or you could use your LS tranny ( not reccomended bad gearing for NA ,good for nos, turbo

you can use your stock motor mounts and use your axles

I plan on using the ODB-I P72 ECU and harness from the GSR, so that shouldnt be too hard.

But Im not sure what to do about the transmission linkage. I want to use the Y80 transmission from the GSR. What are my options to get that to work - just a hydro to cable conversion? Who sells one and are they any good? I read Place Racing does, but their website is down. I dont see one on HASport either.

Damn cheesy cable shifter.

the only way to go cable to hydro.. is custom fabrication.. You do not want to do this.. Cable shifter isnt as cheesy as it sounds. Just find one in good shape and your good to go. Since you have a b18c1, and you probably will plan on staying N/A.. your best bet is gonna be to get a jdm b16 transmission.

try finding a y1 or ys1. Maybe try finding a b16 lsd transmission. Passwordjdm.com had some b16 cable transmissions CHEAP! but they are currently sold out but probably will have some in soon..

Dont bother converting cable to hydro, its just too much of a pain in the ***.

yeah just go with a b16 tranny , or a 92-93 gsr cable (rare expensive one of hondas best trannys ) or if you have the cash go with a 92-93 ls tranny and buy the type r gears from honda 400-500 for parts install them or pay a shop , now you have type r geared cable tranny alot of EF and Da members are going this route today , also there is only hydro to cable conversion kit , back in the day there was a cable to hydro kit but it was discountinued ( my guess to many problems) custom fabrication can be easily 1,000 dollars no worth it , cable trannys are good besides the synchros grind on alot of b16 trannys ( im a victim of 3 trannys ) good luck

ok so the conversion isnt going to work. so I need to spend more money and get a diff tranny - crap.

Hydro vs Cable - is it the shifter or the clutch? I was under the impression that it was the clutch.

Thanks for the replies

how much do you think a 95 GSR Y80 Transmission is worth? 90k miles, no grinds, no abuse.

thats a hydro tranny those run 500- 800 , 400-600 would be a steal if the trannys in tip top shape

-pr3 ecu or p72 ecu with a ecu jumper 0bd1 to 0bd0
- b16 disributer
- use you injectors 90-91
Using older B16A electronics just to simplify wiring is not the way to go. That ECU was not meant for a 1.8 liter motor. Also, it has no IAB control. And it will require that retarded two oxygen sensor setup. DON'T waste your money on a PR3/PW0 ECU and distributer. You already have the best possible ECU for the motor. Just buy a harness and use the P72. Or do the wiring yourself. You will be glad you did.

thanks, wiring shouldnt be an issue. I have the ODB-I P72 ECU and Harness from the 95 B18C1. But this tranny is pissing me off, I wanted to just the Y80 I had.

I called HASport. They said this swap would be really hard to do because of the wiring. They dont sell a kit for this swap and I dont know what the hell im doing so maybe I should find a different car.

And they said the tranny would NOT work. No one makes a cable to hydro tranny conversion, HASport makes a hydro to cable conversion tho.

I decided to just use the tranny that is currently on the Gen2 B18a. I think that will work. Can anyone verify this?

And wtf do I need to do about the wiring? Does anyone sell a swap kit for Gen2's?

yeah that tranny will work but i would go with a b16 cable tranny , if you have the ecu and a full engine wire harness there should be no issues , swap kit for what? you say u have everything
-you can reuse your axles
-no mount kit is required
- u can use your shift linkage

the only issues you have are the non obdo- obd1 issues but if u have the p72 and a 95 gsr wiring harness you are ready to go

Im thinking Ill just reuse the transmission that came with the Gen2. Its a cable type of course, and Id bet itd fit on the Gen3 B18c1.

It would be nice if I could talk to someone who has done this swap before. Just to confirm about the wiring snaffus. The guys from HASport sounded like it couldnt be done even tho I told htem I have the GSR Harness and ECU.

Im going to pay to have the B18C rebuilt and Id hate to get half way into it and find out it doesnt work.

What tranny comes with the '91 Integra LS? And will that fit on a '95 B18c1?

i think its the s1 tranny.. and please dont use it unless you HAVE to...

Im not sure with the b18c1, but i know for the b16, the LS tranny is way too long for all motor applications, and sometimes you wont even stay in vtec when you shift because the RPM drops so much.
