1990 CRX Si tranny - what's the tranny code?
I found a local CRX Si tranny for sale, which is off the car. The code on the front is L3. I have an 89 Civic DX and it is also L3. Are both the Si and DX tranny's an L3 and if so are there any way to distinguish between them other than to actually drive a car with that tranny?
Look around on the casting back by the axle area there should be a small stamp that has pl3000, thats the si tranny. The other one is like a pl1000- dx tranny.
Here are a couple of pics to help you understand.
This is an 89-91 DX (PL3/A000):
This is a 90 Si (PL3/9000):
These castings are located above the differential opening on passenger side.

Thanks, you might've just saved me from buying another DX tranny. I'll check it out tomorrow.
