From what place should i get B16a ?
Im want to put B16a im my 88 Crx and i dont know from what place to get the engine. I was thinking taking trip to Osaka or just order from HMO or Nippon Motors Inc. or Flashoptions or some other company that has engines. The good thing if i would go to osaka i can take really good look at the engine even take battery and compression tester and see what cond. the engine is i dont know what to do please anybody can give me so advise.
Well, i would personally reccomend password:jdm or nippon or HMO. do not get your motor from, osaka, their prices are good but they screw everyone with lies and bad customer service.
IMO HMO hahaha
I got mine from there and they are great people to deal with...good prices...great quality

Come down to Virginia. I will let you handpick your own b16 from 500 engines, trannies, ecu. Send me a pm or email me at Civicdrgrcr@HOtmail.com for more info.
If you had the oppurtunity to travel somewhere close to hand pick your motors....that would be great if you know what you are looking for.
I would go where you are able to do that. But if your like me and dont have that luxury....I would go to HMO. Ive been a repeat customer to Steve. I put my trust in him that I will not receive JUNK or garbage motors.
Too bad I cant say the same for P+G Auto in Rialto, CA.
The 6 B16's I got from him were alright....still running in my customer's cars today, but I had 2 ZC's that looked like someone too a SH*& in the OIL. When it finally fired up.....it blew more smoke than a compulsive smoker trying to kick the habit.
P+G: "Oh Tony, I want to take care of those for you....just send them back to me and I'll get you replacements!"
Tony: "Umm? Am I supposed to feel better now that I just had to do the labor over again 4 times to pull each bunk motor in and out of the car, lost time, lost the customer's faith in the motors, and to top it off, I have to waste my time and money shipping these piles of crap back so you can send me more crap!!!"
Well I didnt really say it like that....but you get the picture. I ended up biting the bullet on that one!!
I not spending anymore money to ship those ZC's back. (If those were B16 or B18's I probably would have) Not worth it in my opinion on ZC long blocks with no tranny.
I ended up putting a B16 in that customer's car instead that I also got from P+G Auto. Works like a charm today!!!
But that one incident cost P+G my continued business. Up to that point, I have got a little under a dozen motors from them......it would have been more if that wouldnt have happened.
Good thing Steve at HMO has proven himself to me in the past years. He hasnt sold me a BUNK motor Yet
I'm sure if there was an incident like mentioned before....Steve would handle it differently.
P+G if you are reading this......I could have given you much more business....YOU SNOOZE....YOU LOSE!!
I hope by reading this Honda Tech members, you guys will have a better understanding of the service of HMO.
Its alot better than just posting......"HMO rocks
" ( and not explain why)
Ive heard good things about IAS (Import Auto Salvage), but Steve has given me no reason to go anywhere else. I have gained trust in him.

HMO all the way....Steve kept me up to date on everything up till the point my motor arrived at my house. When I got my motor and took it apart for cleaning and maintenance it was cleaner than any of my friends swaps and all of them had 2nd gen b16's from other places. I drove it over to honda because they didnt believe that they made b16's back in 90 even in japan (shows how much they know) and they said it didnt look like my motor had over 20,000 miles on it. If I had a camera I would post pics, I did a little cleaning and now the motor actually looks brand new. HMO ALL THE WAY!!!!!
hmo all the way, my engine was clean as heck. and steve is a good guy.
