Default My first Drag experience (racing...)

So today I took the crx to the track for the first time. Let me preface this by saying that I have drag raced one other time in my life, my 94 Jetta back in probably 1996 and i remember being proud of my ricey 17.xx

I am well aware of the concept of launching properly, and what it takes to powershift and what not, its just that i fail to see the purpose of "living your life 1/4 mi at a time", not knocking it, its just not for me. I gave it another chance today, and it reaffirmed my belief that drag racing is in fact, not for me.

With that being said, my times were as follows:

Settings: Tires - Falken Azenis 22psi F/42psi R
Suspension - Koni Yellows/KGmm DR21 - 1/2 turn from full soft front
3/4 turn from full stiff rear

1st Run -
15.210 - 94.966 mph - 1.501 reaction - 2.742 60ft (**** launch, wasnt ready)
2nd run -
14.654 - 95.440 mph - 1.242 reaction - 2.376 60ft (got the hang of the 13 year old clutch, pulled pretty good off the line, bounced off the rev limiter in 3rd)
3rd run -
14.682 - 95.044 mph - 1.055 reaction - 2.337 60ft (not bad launch, was racing a eclipse gst and beat him he ran a 15.013)

Sacramento raceway blows my *** by the way....40 bucks for 3 runs and it was a ****** test and tune session....cant do much tuning with 3 runs...what a ****** rip-off. Anyway, what do you guys think about my #s? Mods are in sigs and many previous posts (most of the regulars know my mods)

-Todd

edit - added tire pressures and suspension settings

i think you did pretty good. 14.6 is respectable. i think with a few more runs you could have knocked off a few more tenths.
my first time at the track i ran a 14.6 too. few more runs and i did a best of 14.3 in my i/h/e b16a rex

what kinda tranny u running?

drag racing is no fun. street or track autoxing is awesome. track safer street more exciting.

who wants to run down a straight line for 12-16 seconds depending on your car. without doing insane mods.

12s cuz my friend has a b18c5 wit toda spec3 cams. and other mods. it hits 12.788

my b16a1 hit 14.5 last time i ran. 2 years ago. new motor now. new clutch wonder what'll hit. that was stock nothing modded. meaning internally. had exhaust/intake.

i looked at your pics. where is that track your racing on? how much it cost to run??
i usually do it around town on roads i know by heart. but its real unsafe to other drivers and myself. at least its my fault if i kill myself. but i dont wanna hurt anyone else.

This was in my CRX, I sold the hatch awhile back.

Ive run my car at most of the tracks in Northern CA, including Thunderhill, Laguna Seca, and Buttonwillow. I guess you can include Sacramento Raceway now too.

14.6 with a B16 would love to have that time here. I'm in NE TN. Most B16 swaps run 15.5ish give or take a .10. Was that on slicks or DOT radials or your daily wheels. 2.2 60's is about as good as you can get on normal tires if thats the case. I wouldn't complain abou thoses time slips from a stock B16 N/A. Hell my Z6 runs 15.9's and like I said B16 about 15.5's. If I could get that much of a faster time slip I would pay the $$$$ for a test and tune even if it was only 1 time. BTW thats a verrrry clean B16 looks good I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time and those 20 seconds it takes me to get there........

test n tune at sac raceway are a big ripoff.
go on wednesday nights, $15 for 2 pre-lims, then bracket, then fun runs till your sick of it or they close.
when its a empty night, youll get 10+ runs.

I know exactly what you mean. Auto-xing in a HUGE parking lot by yourself gets more tiring then racing on Drag strips. cause atleast on a drag stip your either in front, next or behind the person you are racing AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, your actually racing someone at the same time. Auto-x is like ghost racing, you have to use your imagination. I like both Auto-x and Drag but i prefer drag more cause of a bigger crowd and atmosphere, and racing 1 on 1 instead of against time.

The best would be Road Racing that tops them all out.

Like anyone cares but I prefer streetracing(usually do it when drag season is out like now) free and fun. there is this one area called Eagles Point its a divided highway about a 1.5 mile straight DOWNHILL @ 30 degress angle then flattens out and goes uphill slightly with 1 mile left(plenty time to stop) no inbound or outbound traffic can get on. I'll get some pics, ha ** theres a white line too at the bottom which is about 3/4 of a mile, cops have that there cause they do speed traps called VASCAR. we use that as finish line

Yea, I must admit that time is very respectable!

If you lower that 60 ft. time a tenth of a second then they say that equals .15-.2 off your ET....

Reaction time doesnt mean anything to ET since it is subtracted from your total time at the end. RT only matters if youre bracket racing.
