does a HX tranny have the same gearing as ex/si(d series)
I would think it is like my vx tranny. I would think it was geared higher for better gas mileage.
I could be wrong, but I believe it's similar to the DX trans (e.g. geared high). I think I asked this question a while back, too.
No, it definitely does not. I have a lame CX/DX tranny and I can take my crap to 64mph in 2nd. My brother says his HX tranny is only different from mine in that the gearing for his final drive is slightly higher, which is not a good thing. Well for gas mileage it is I guess.
FOR THE 96-00 CIVIC models.. the D16Y5 HX tranny had the same gearing as the CX, DX 96-00 hatchback... basically
HX as well as DX , CX htbk model
1st gear 3.250
2nd gear 1.1782
3rd gear 1.172
4th Gear 0.909
5th Gear .702
FD - 3.722 DX(LX?) Coupe(sedan?) model had a 4.058 FD
EX Tranny is
1st Gear 3.250
2nd Gear 1.909
3rd Gear 1.250
4th Gear .909
5th Gear .702
FD = 4.250
hope that helps
