Default Subframe repair... 56k Beware

Think this will cost more than $1000? Its just the lower part of the subframe that gets welded to the chasis, but everything else might be bent. This is the only damage that I can see, but I've yet to get the car in the air. It sucks...

I hit a curb in a parking lot. The back took most of it, but the front swung aroung and hit it too.

Sounds like someone was being a jackass with a car that they didn't know how to control. You don't do that to your subframe by tapping a curb when you park. You do that when you hit a curb at 40 mph because you're doing donuts.

It's probably unrepairable

That doesn't look bad enough to trash the car. You should be able to have it fixed.

A good body shop should be able to do it. Let us know what they quote you though. Unless you go to a super high end shop it would be surprising if it was $1000.

Yeah, I'd have to agree.

Even if you get it repaired, it's most likely never going to handle the same.

Find another civic

take it to a frame shop and have them bend it back as best as possible... then sell it and buy a car that isn't tweaked. The geomitry in your right rear will never be close to what it was.

trust me, if they fix it for a reasonable price, I'll have it sold before the end of the week.

doood im so much cooler than you... i hit a curb going 70+ and i just bent my front lcas, pushed my front wheels back into my fenders and destoyed both wheels/tires/fenders, (my stock shocks were already blown so i dint mess them up any further) but relative to the speed not much damage. and i didnt damage the back at all b/c when i hit in the front the car jumped and the back wheels landed up on the grass. i now have an itr rear bar to try to prevent such happenings from, errrr, happening again... damn understeer. anyway id say get rid of the car bro, i didnt have any frame/subframe damage so i kept mine, but your car will never be the same.

it's repairable. You gonna have to het a whole new subframe and have a shop remove the gas tank and cut up the floor and then cut out the old one and weld in the new one. Getting to it and cutting it is possible there is a car here that had an entire itr subframe welded inplace of the stock civic here locally at one of the shps.

youch! I thought for sure you were going to say you had a Susp. tech sway bar on, and I was going to scream like a little girl and take mine off.

Sorry to hear about that man, but I guess you have an excuse now to get a new car to work on...joy.

Hey, just trying to put a positive spin on things.
