I live in Minnesota, and im wondering if there are any reputable shops around to build my D16y8 motor. I have the pistons, rods, headstuds, and block guard. But im having trouble finding places to do it that i trust. Also what would you guys estimate a rebuild would cost, after labor, new gaskets, bearings, belts, fluids, filters ect! thanks alot!

That motor should be easy to rebuild by yourself.

You may just need help with the cylinder work. And just have someone put together the valves and springs, or buy a cheap compressor. The rest of it is easy..

Yeah alot of people have but they did the work themselves. It will be hard to tell you what a shop will charge for a rebuild. Are you pulling the motor? If not then you will have to take it to a shop and have them pull it. Then you have to have them send the parts off to get them machined. Then he'll have to put it back together. Could be anywhere from $500 to $1500 or more. Ask around at local shops and see.

 

i Do have a helms manual, but i jsut don't hve the time or the resources to do it!
