if i use a d16y8 head on my a6 block what compression will i yield???

 

i beleive u will get abouy 9.8.1 or 10.2.1 nuttin higher tho

 

I read on the d series board that the a6/y8 combo yields 11.2:1 compression . With as much pinging as I used to get, I wouldn't be surprised if this was true.

 

its around 11.2:1 or so. i have a y8 head on my a6 block. its the best mod i ever did. high compression is wheres its at. i am running a zydne 1 wire conversion. i have yet to having pinging , but i also have my timing at stock. as long as you tune it right you will be ok. if you are arfraid of that high of a compression go with a z6 head. its around 10.6:1 i think. do a search and you find all your answers

 

HA!! this is the same setup I have!! I Zdyne. I think i have mild pinging because there was a lot of carbon on the tops of my pistons (which i cleaned off of 2 because they were accessible at TDC). Anyway, i set timing at 16° (well within stock settings) and its all good now.

Ohhh.. one last thing, have you had a chance to dyno yours?

 

haven't had a chance to dyno it yet. hopefully this year. you are running 93 octane right?

 

yup 93.. if we had a sunoco, it would be 94.

speaking of 93 octane, its up to $1.85 in north florida

 

93 is at $1.85 here in Sarasota, and it's $1.65 for 87!! WTF?? I use 87 to get away from the high prices!

 

ok so i can't completely spray with that high compression safely, right??? if not, how far would i have to mill the head to yield a compression ratio of about 12:1??? .0030 be enough? thx

 

you can spray but nothing more than a 50 shot. and you have to watch the plugs for signs of den.

btw...I've always had the thought of doing a mini-me...but I don't think I've ever seen a dyno of one..very interested in seeing one though. On the new a6 build up I'm going 11:1 compression and plan on spraying 80 direct port...it'll be all forged though.

100-1000 bucks. depends on where you get your parts, how much you pay for them and how you want it setup.

its not hard work. pretty much take off one head and bolt on another, run a line for vtec and you are good to go.

 

so does anyone else think i would be ok to spray a 50 shot???

what would you do? spray a 50 shot on a built mini me, or mill the head for a better compression ratio with a built mini me??? thx

 

spray! much more power than milling the head.

 

i'm putting a crower race cam in it, would that effect spraying any way???

 

please does anyone know if i could still spray with a race cam or would it be better to mill the head?
