Default is this a good deal?

ok i was looking around for some motors and i found this place up in Washington and they will sell me a b16a1 for $1200 with everything including mounts and a b18a for i think like $900 i was just wondering if this is a good deal because i have seen them go for this but with only the tranny ecu and nothing else. and if so what is easier to do in my 88 civic and witch would be better like i said before i want to do ls/vtec but hey i can get the b16 well thanks hope you can help me out.

When they say mounts they probably mean the SiR mounts which you cant use in your car, Unless you weld them in. $1200 seems to pretty much be the going rate for a B16a1.

Its a decent deal, but IMO I would just save up for an LS/VTEC.

so you think i should just go ls-vtec?
well ok here i can get the motor for 900 and i can get the head for i think 250-300 but i still have to get the v-tec controller (cousin has one for 170-apex-i new) and my friend knows how to install but isnt better if i change pistond rods cams ect.?

usually with an ls/vtec, you need to notch your pistons, or do b16 pistons becase of valve clearance issues. the bottem end of an ls isnt made to rev much over 7 grand, and usually you'll spin a bearing if you rev it up to 8,200

just get the ls, and turbo it

ls/vtecs are kinda sketchy arent they? why not just go with a b18c
