Default wheelwell separation?

I recently took off the front pass. wheel to check my cv boots. I looked up and to the right of where the shock mounts there was a 3 inch separation where two pieces of sheet metal used to be fused together and under coated. Anyone ever encounter this? What is happening? It was never hit there or in a accident. What caused this? Should I have it welded shut again? Anyone who can identify this problem...Thanx. It is lowered significantly but done the proper way and the upper arm has never hit around there, I wouldve heard it. It is not affecting the way it drives and is not close to the shock mount so should just forget about it?

I think this might be a reason to go out and buy a digi. Once I BARELY tapped a trailer hitch doing only 10 mph, but it only needed a hood cause it slipped under(lowering helped me out) so theres no way thats the reason. Since I have no camera yet I'll try to explain better. If u take the wheel off and look up, startin by the shock mount run your finger downwards and youll feel a 1 layer of metal overlap another, to the right of the shock like 4 inches below where it mounts. It's hard to see due to under coating, but in my case a ugly little separation is starting. It's stayed 3 inches for a while and hasnt separated any more. But it just doesnt look right. Like I said it doesnt look major now but I'd like to know what is happening, or if anyone else has encountered this. I dont think it is from torque because a d16a6 has none! Any more input?
