Default insurance question regarding racing

if you have decent insurance (collision, theft, liability) and you crash your car on a race track, does your insurance cover it? i have AAA if that helps.

what track? I believe you are covered if you say it`s a driving school and not wheel to wheel racing or time trials. Also depends on the insurance carrier.

I know where I race I am not covered for any damages done to my car. That is at New England Dragway. It is race at your own risk

Well isnt "race at your own risk" for the track and NOT your insurance company. Thats just saying if you crash your car and break your leg in the process, you cant come after the track for money for damages.

Im sure there is a way to do it, just file it as a hit and run... HA HA HA!

what track?
willow springs and leguna seca for the most part.

im not talking about being able to sue the track if i crash my car. im saying if i crash my car while racing and total it, will my insurance company give me money? or will they just skrew me and say that i took "unneeded risks"

I think it would all depend on what kind of accident you got into.

If you were doing the SCCA's pro solo and rolled your car into a ditch it wouldn't hurt to try. If you were doing wheel to wheel racing and ran into someone perhaps you should claim that you guys did it somewhere else.

If you simply pulled some wheels off your ride I would also suggest claiming you did it on the street or something.

How much is your deductable?

No matter what, if you make a claim your insurance could go up. I don't know how you are financially but I personally try to keep my record as clean as I can.

If you crash while on track then you are NOT covered in any way. If you are parked in the paddock and get hit then insurance applies. My friends race car was damaged while parked in the paddock and insurance covered it but he had to make it very clear that it did not happen on course. So in short, no you are not covered while racing.

your insurance will not cover you, just like if you have a warranty on your car if they can prove that youve been to the track i.ei you still have the numbers on your car they can void the warranty
