I decided i want a b16a2, but I'm torn between usdm and jdm... i know they are the same engine, but i have a 6g civic and would like a newer motor in my car, not a 5g motor from jdm... but the jdm is cheaper.... in the long run...
Well you pretty much spelled it out for yourself. Do you want a cheaper engine that is a bit older, or a newer one that costs a little more?
Also, depending where you live, I think there could be legal issues with the JDM engine (emission/smog laws).

Its the same motor in a sense... i dont know the exact specs.. but I'm pretty sure its the exact motor... and i know i can get one with under 30K on it for 1800.... will the RHD car it came out of make a difference when dropping it in my ek??
No diffrence eccept compression. USDM is higher USDM all the way...
But you can find jdm's older and cheeper. all your decision good luck finding a jdm in hydro tranny...

I am pretty sure the JDM B16A SiRII motors are 170hp and a tad bit more than 111tq. Also, there is an OBD2 verion of this motor which came in the EK4's (I am pretty sure)...so you would be able to get a motor that is equal to your cars year or higher, it would plug right in because you would have the correct OBD system, you would have 10 more hp than the B16A2 (the 2 on the end designates a USDM motor - JDM has no suffix
), and you would be much happier

JDM motors are a bit more powerful due to higher compression. 170 like he said I believe. A JDM motor is slightly more work, wiring stuff etc, but it is still pretty easy. I see 2nd gen b16's at every engine place online. Those arent the cable ones. They have hydro trannies. Just check with those places and on all the classified boards you can find.

b16a2 10.4:1 USDM, b16a 10.2:1 JDM, b16b 10.8:1 JDM
B16A2 10:4.1 = JDM 170hp/113tq
B16A2 10:2.1 = USDM 160hp/111tq

B16A2 10:4.1 = JDM 170hp/116tq
B16A2 10:4.1 = USDM 160hp/111tq

B16A2 10:4.1 = JDM 168hp/116tq
~ no USDM avalible ~
