Removing Door step pannel on hatch?
I am trying to tuck wires under my carpet on the pass side and am trying to remove the star bolt the plastic panels that surround the bottom of the door. what size or tool do I use to remove this?
Thanks andrew
Thanks andrew
You will need a "torx" socket/wrench. They come in a variety of sizes. Your local ato parts store should have them. I removed mine with an "allen" wrench. Again same idea. Comes in various sizes.
I tried the alan wrench, it almost stripped the screw...
6 or 8 pointed? and the size? (sorry, I'm at work and want to get this done.)

its a T40 bit...bought some earlier this week and ended up breaking the tool...then found out that my dad was hiding another tool set from me and found a bit in there...with a lot of cursing and force and degreaser, all 4 bolts finally budged...HTH
Go to a quality tool dealer (someone who offers a lifetime waranty and accually backs it up, because you will probably break it) and ask for a T-40 socket (If they don't know what you're talking about, slowly back up out of the door and go somewhere else) . Attach that baby to a big, long breaker bar because those bolts are going to be tight!!.
Also, once you get the bolts out, the carpet will be attached to those panels, so you can't take them all the way out. Just pull them up enough to get your wires in there.
