Default Failed Smog Test - NOx 1134 reading

My '91 CRX si failed the 15mph NO emissions test with a reading of 1134 ppm. It passed everything else.

Any ideas on how to get this to be lower? It needs to go down by about 400 ppm.

What type of repairs will shops offer?

I have a shorty intake w/K&N filter, DC headers (CARB approved), Bosch Platinum 4 plugs and Magnacore spark plug wires. I really don't want to swap out any parts just to pass smog. Thanks!

Some headers will not allow you to pass smog. Thats the the first thing I thought of.

I heard that the 4-1 DC's wont pass smog but I could be wrong. Just because it has a sticker dosnt mean its going to pass smog.

check your O2 sensor, it sounds like its leaning out your mixture. the leaner the higher the combustion temperature will rise you need to add more gas to cool down the comb. temp. is your CO2 about 14-15%, also check your cooling system a stuck thermostat may casue hot spots around the cylinder walls and carbon deposits on the pistons which may increase c.r.
