Rear wiper....
It was a very windy winter day yesterday and I was out on the highway coming home from work. I accelerate a little above the speed limit to pass some one and catch my exit and as I do so I hear a loud *thunk*! Thinking I just got hit with a piece of ice or ran over an unseen rock on the road, I look around my mirrors to see something fly away... To my surprise, my rear wiper is bent all the way back! The spring that holds it down had cracked off! I guess a combination of the cold/mild weather (-30C/-5C) we'd been having weakened it and the speed I was traveling (about ~120kph) did it...
I hopt the dealer will just give me a new spring. I don't hink these things should break that easy. Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

WOW!! That's the first time I have ever heard of that happening. Isn't the spring made of metal? Maybe the cold weather made the metal brittle and more prone to breaking. :shrugs:

I had that happen about two weeks ago...but I live in FL. I was on the Interstate following a BMW 5 series at like 110 mph and all of a sudden I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my rear wiper sticking straight up. When I got home I put it down but it had bent, I didn't think of checking the spring...I will have to check that when I get home.
Actually, I took a closer look and the spring is not actually broken. It's originally two pieces... I'll wait till some one can help me stretch it and should be able to get it back on...
I think this summer I'll upgrade to the SPoon Titatanium uint. I hear it's a weight savings of 2 grams!!!! Watch out!

yeah my wiper used to do that when i had a winter blade on (no holes in the blade for air to go through).....i'd hit 70+ mph and watch it start to lift off
no more winter rear blade for me!
