Is this a good trade?
Hey guys, one of our HT members wants to trade his 92 civic with a 2000 si engine and tranny with 30k and a whole bunch of other goodies for my 95 pretty much stock gsr with 97k. To me its a good deal but I have to wonder why would anyone want to trade a swap? He said it was to showey for him and he wanted lay low so to speak. What should I look for in this? Any info would help.
Improperly performed swap will have problems. Unless your a mechanic, have friends who are or have loads of money to pour into the car, i'd keep your car. In all honestly, your GSR is valued higher than the 92 civic.
Getting insurance for a swapped car might be a factor to consider. If you decide to go with it, make sure you get the paperwork for the engine work. It would bite big time if your engine was reported as stolen and your NEW car is reposessed.
If a deal seems too good, it probably is. Be happy with what you have. I think your car looks great, especially with the red Type-R valve cover. I'd get lower it an inch and slap on some gunmetal rims and tear up the road... but that's me

I say keep the GS-R.

id have to agree with 94tealGSR on this one.. if your going for looks an early 90s hatch really isnt the best way to go. id keep the gsr. but if your going with go over show then id go with the hatch. definitly bring it to a shop to check it out. make shure the tranny is proporly aligned, that would eb a major problem with a swap. personally i say fuckit and go with the hatch.

either way my friend, i would definitely ask for all of the papers regarding the motor of that car, and get it checked out. i think i would choose the hatch in this case due to the significantly newer motor, however, i would have to be 100% sure that the motor, lol, and car, were legit.
