how do you take off the throttle body and intake manifold?
I want to clean them and someone said the best way to do it is to take them off and clean them. Does anyone have a how to or a write up?
thanks

Spray carb cleaner works the best if your going to do it. Just remove the intake and start spraying inside it. I would say a machine shop could also clean it for a fee. It just un bolts. There are bolts accross the top and bollt for the intake. Unhook a few coolant lines. Unplug any wires. There is probably a mounting bracket that is much easier to get to thru the bottom (underneath the car) and that it for removal

its pretty straight foward, just unbolt the (maybe) 10nuts for the intake manifold (i dont remember exactly how many) some are a bit harder to get to but shouldnt be too bad, and the bracket as mentioned earlier is a bit easier from the bottom, after its off, if you have access to a hot tank, thatll totally clean it, i did it to a manifold before and it looked better than new, if not use carb/intake cleaner and a brush or something. dont forget to get a new intake manifold gasket.
Yeah, I forgot to mention removing the sensors
thanks, when i did it, i stripped it down to a bare manifold, i would suggest that you do not put the t-body in the hot tank though, just clean that with carb/intake cleaner.

well my best friend owns a motorcylce shop and they have a hot tank I could use what all should I take off before I put it in there? Will a hot tnak hurt the throttle bodt any? Anything else I should do while I have it off? Any one got any pics for removal?
thanks

I would suggest everything. Injectors remove the fuel rail and they pop out also get the rubber gromet that hold the injectors in the intake. Intake air temp sensor, use a impact screwdriver to remove it. Fast Idle control Valve unbolt using 12mm wrench. Throttle position sensor, need to cut a grove to notch the studs and use a flat head screwdriver for removal. TPS is on the Throttle body it self. I think I've covered all sensors correct me if I'm wrong. I dont see why the hot tank would hurt the throttle body.

i hot tanked a tbody before, and it didnt work very well when i tried to use it, the spring was 'creeky' and the throttle plate would 'wedge' and stick in the tbody housing, so every once in a while, while driving i would have to push a little harder to get the plate to 'unstick' while i'm shifting, (hard to explain) but i would play it safe and not put the tbody in the hot tank, the intake manifold should be fine though.
if you mean take if off of the manifold there are only 4 nuts and thats it, if not.. take off the intake tube, undo the throttle cable, unplug the tps, take off the coolant line, and unbolt the 4 nuts, should be cake
