I'm about to do the b16a engine swap, i'm also planning on supercharging later on, will my 99 civic si AEM Cold air intake fit the supercharger and provide enough air?
When I upgrade my exhaust I was going to go with 2 1/4" but if I'm supercharging should I go larger? How crappy am i going to run with larger exhaust and no supercharger?
I've searched my *** off and can't find the answer to any of this,
any help?

I've read a 3" exhaust is pretty much optimal for a turbo set-up, (2 1/4" is too restrictive)....is it similar for a supercharger?
Edmonton Blows right now, I dented my muffler in the snow ruts on the way to class this morning, now I've got a wheezy growl when I accelerate.....

I would suggest using a header with large primaries and collector...and also mate that to a large catalytic converter and 3 inch exhaust. Superchargers benefit from a very free flowing exhaust.

best answer yet. superchargers work great with just a header and nothing else. but that would be a track only thing.

I was planning on the dc sports 4-2-1 one piece ceramic wrapped (99 civic si) header seems to be about as large as I can go and still get evrything to fit....any other options?
I was planning on upgrading to a random technology catalytic converter anyway so that should help with the exhaust...
has anyone got an inline muffler (ie pointed from the front of the car to the back), rather than the transverse stock one that goes left to right? I was hoping to remove a little more restriction and possibly relocate my spare tire to underneath the car, never seen this done on a rex only on civics, seems to work out pretty good....

better look into doin the actuall install of the SC cause there isnt much room for it since the master cylinder is right there.....
The charger install is a pain in the ***. you have to fabricate, and re-locate a few things, to make it fit. you have to bang a big dent for the alternator to fit. it gave me a big headache.
anyways, back to your question, yes an aem cai will fit (if you re-locate your battery), and i am running a kamakaze header with a greddy MX exaust, and a hollow cat. i would recommend a similar set-up.

Jackson racing will be offering an upgrade of some sort for the supercharger for fitting into the 88-91 Civics and CRXes with B16As. It will make it much easier to fit. I do not expect the upgrade to be out for a couple of months though. Here is a pic of my car.

Another Edmonton guy. Yay!!
Now in regards to the question. JRSC and CAI is possible, but now I wanna ask u: where u gonna tune ur car? The closest place I know that has wide band and dyno is Tunerworks down in CTown. As for their credibility, I'm not too sure.
As for exhaust I'd personally would use a 3" if it comes to boost
Question for the JRSC CRX owner. Is the SC for the B16A1 found on the JR website? I've only been able to find one for the B16A2, or did u use the that one but convert it to OBD0 settings?

for the Edmonton guys http://www.v8less.com .....couple of meets are already planned and another one in June when the fast and the furious 2 comes out is being planned as we speak.
I was hoping to supercharge next summer...after the new SC comes out (which will hopefully fit nice and easy and be a general bolt in.....fingers crossed) and hopefully by then their'd be a decent dyno in town...or I would be moving somewhere warmer...BC here I come.
I'm still wondering how a basically stock b16 is going to run with 3" exhaust which is a fair bit too big.... other than that it looks like I can go ahead with my swap as planned (skipping the skunk2 manifold...kind of a waste if it's pulled out right away) and supercharge next summer without replacing a lot of expensive aftermarket parts.
Thanks

Running 3" with stock B16A will cause power loss. 2.25" is optimal from what i read, hear, and experience. But with boost, i could see 3" being optimal then. I guess it's a matter of how early u plan on throwing on the SC
BTW, so ur saying the JR will come out with a supercharger for the b16a1's?

This is what I keep hearing over and over, haven't heard it from an official JR source yet, but with the frequency of this rumor I'd bet they actually are working on something or are going to when they hear the rumor....
it only seems to make sense with the sheer amount of b16a1 's that have been swapped in recently...

The car in the picture was done at Jackson Racing and uses OBD0 electronics. They are in the process of doing another one right now and it will use OBD1 electronics. The two cars will be featured in seperate magazine tech articles and at that time an "upgrade" or maybe "optional" kit will be available for the B16 supercharger into the 88-91 Civics and CRXes.
If you notice, it uses the different neck on the supercharger to better align the t-body, and get it out fo the way of the heater hoses and fuel filter. All the necessary pieces will be sourced so the JRSC will be a easy install.

All I can say to that is WOO-HOO.... I'm all for easy installs.
Any idea what magazines/ month those tech articles are coming out in?
Does anyone know of reasonable canadian suppliers? So far NOPI is the cheapest and the canadian distributor from the jackson racing site is hard to get a hold of and just as expensive...........
i got all the info for my b16a crx jr super from http://www.theoldone.com they have some great suggestions and products. get the stepper pulley from them for like 120 or so and run the +3psi so you can be up to 9 or 10.
so anyone seen the article or know if they really are going to make an OBD-0 electronics supercharger?
sorry to bring this back for the dead
