Default auto tranny in a 90 dx hb

I got the tranny in, connected everything, here is what it does, i start it up, the wheels turn forward, it doesnt feel like it goes into any other gears even though i shift. I threw the shifter from park to the bottom and back, soon enough i had reverse working but it only regonized 2-3 of the gears, someone suggested the shift linkage was bad, not sure...any ideas?

When I got my 90 dx it still had auto. I couldnt get it to go into park and when it said it was in neutral it was actually in drive. I never figured out how to fix it it seemed like adjusting the cable had no effect.

check your trans fluid and make sure theres enough in there, when you put the trans in did you fill the torque converter also? either way check your trans fluid first.
