what full coilovers are available for 88 civic hatch?
I've been looking at full coilovers, such as zeal and tein. Most of them advertise full coilovers for 89-91 civic/crx, but how about for 88 civic/crx's with the eye rear mounts? What coilovers are available? thanx in advance.
pretty much anything. Most companies. Zeal and Tein require that that the 89-91's get the 88/ITR rear LCA's to fit the suspension. You alreaddy have that so thats saved money for you.
What are you looking to get out the suspention? What is it going to be used for? How much do you want to spend? Ask yourself those questions first then check out the search button and google.

You can also get the newer style coilovers and just get the newer LCA's. That's not a bad deal. LCA's don't cost that much.
i didn't know that. i thought they sold 88 and 89-91's differently. tein advertizes the RA's for the 88 and the SS for the 89-91. but if the 89-91's are required to get 88 lca's, then sweet, i can get that suspension.

are H&Rs good... I noticed that they make a kit for the 2nd gen Rex...
so you are saying that you can get the 89-91 suspension and itll fit exactly with the 88?
just to clarify, i can get the Tein HA's that are listed for 89-91's and they WILL fit my 88 hatch WITHOUT any modifications? reason being the 89-91 are required to get the 88/itr rear lca's. but a few posts up, i mentioned the RA's listed for the 88. why would they list the RA and HA for different years, if they fit both?

BTW, I have HA's on my car right now and have had them for a little more then 3 years.
Yes its true that that Type flex and SS came to replace the HA's but thats not a real big deal. SS's are not to far off of what HA's are, but its still a downgrade.
About mine, I love my HA's and I love how they ride. (very stiff) My car is not all about comfert, I'm building it up to race auto-X and track events like that. They work fine on the street, but are kinda harsh for some for daily. The only gripe I have about them is that they are made out of steel and in colder area's that put out salt for winter or have lots of rain tend to rust if not taken care of. The difference with the RA and the HA is the RA is made out of aluminum and is lighter then the Steel HA's. Plus its going to take way longer for Aluminum to rust then steel.
The SS's that Tein just came out with have a coating of some sort on the screw part (part to adjust how high or low the car is) to help prevent the rust.

so HA and RA are more track than street, and SS is daily driver? i know SS stands for Super Street. I also have been doing some reading, and it says the RA's are for more advanced drivers...can you elaborate on that at all? thanx
The HA and RA both could be used for street. But if thats all your going to use it for then its a complete waist of money. Yes, they are both made for racing.
The SS would make a great daily driver coilover. You can adjust the stiffness of the strut and you still have that full coilover effect of lowering or rasing the ride height. Very good choice if your just want full coilovers and maybe hit up the track every so often.
As for the RA's being for more advanced drivers, I dont konw why someone would say that. I guess I would say its for ppl who are more into tunning and adjusting. Then as to someone just intalling it, putting it at a hieght you like, leaving it, and being done with it. That kind of person would have no use for all the function of the HA or even the RA, and would be just waisting money.
