i am having a debate with my friend who has a new car and he says that u should change the oil at 1000 miles because of engine shavings grinding his engine. I say that u can wait till 3000 what do u guys think? thanx
You can do either/or.
I always do mine at 2500 miles instead of the full 3000. There have been times where I've seen cars go over 10,000 miles on one oil change. Not much happens, at least, not much that can be seen or felt (ie: wearing down, or lack of performance).
For a BRAND new car, I would probably change oil ever 2000 miles for the few 4000 miles, and then after that go to the regular 2500-3000.
