Honda Has Recalled the 2001 Acura Integra
(SafetyAlerts) - Honda Has Recalled the 2001 Acura Integra because of the air bag module.

Number of Units Affected: 403

Defect Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, SOME OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULES WERE NOT PROPERLY WELDED AND MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A COLLISION.

Consequence Summary:
THE SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY PROTECTED IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.

Corrective Summary:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING AUGUST 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1099 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

I wish it had something to do with the rash of stolen Integras.

interesting.... i have a 2k1 integra. How does one know if their integra is part of the 403 units? or does acura check and repair if necessary all 2k1 integras?

On another note, what do you guys think about airbags? I dont like the idea of them deploying and having my nose shattered into a million pieces. I'm going to get the non srs JDM ITR steering wheel and have been thinking about removing my passenger side airbag and replacing it with the CDM tray. Post up some insight, and stories you've heard that were either good or bad about airbags. TIA!

 

honda will notify you if you are involved in this recall. that is a very small number of cars involved so it is pointless going to your dealer to see if you are involved.

 

I think the airbag will save your nose from getting smashed up. my friend had a 86 prelude that he wrecked and his face smashed in to the steering wheel eventhough he wore his seatbelt but there was no airbag.
