Default B16a1 Block in a 2000 SI w/ b16a2 head and tranny????? Help

Ok I have a 2000 Si with a b16a2 in it, I want to purchase another block to start building so I don't ahve downtime on my car(its my only ride) can I use a b16a1 block to build up and then swap it in, are there gonna be any problems and is there anything I'm gonna hve to add to take away? if you swap all the sensors over so they all have the same plugs you should be fine. except for the fact that you might get in trouble when it comes time to do smog.
