got the crx shell and going d-series boost probably, couple of ?'s
i have a 90 crx si that has everything except the engine and tranny and it's been sitting for the last six months. first things first, what should i look at to fix on it, think anything would have went bad?
i'm going to have around four grand because this is my only car and don't have alot to spend at the moment. i've thought about b-series swap but i don't think i have the cash. i'm fairly well versed in how everything works and how to do the swap ... basically just need input and any contacts that you guys might have that i do not for great prices and what not ... yes i've spent hours searching and reading.
engine: d16y8 (still needs to be purchased ... got any good links for swap prices)
turbo: probably greddy kit or the apexi if i can find one for a good price
ems: hondata probably if i have the cash
essentials: clutch, exhaust, obd1
i'm only going to run 8 or 9 lbs cause this thing has to last me, roughly, for the next 2 years. will i need bigger injectors, then those that come with the greddy kit, to run 9lbs via hondata or an apexi avcr? thanks for the info

through my experience with any single cam motor 96 and above they don't last too long. I'm not an expert on it or anything but theories have said that the z6's rod bearings are made out of steel which as apposed to the y8 honda went to aluminum. i had a y8 last for only 3 months for me thats a well maintained as well too. now I have a z6 thats been boosted; nitroused; and ran all motor now for quite a long time its running real strong. hope that helps in some way
I've also have friends that have the y8 and y7 motors that threw their rods real quick so ask around for people with 96+ motors see how they like theirs especially the boosted guys

motor: D16Z6 swap ( - the tranny, you have to use your cable tranny) $600
clutch: ACT full face w/ extreme pressure plate $400
turbo kit: GReddy w/ some gauges $2000
exhaust: Thermal RD turbo application $550
installation: $1000
just a estimate though

i had a 97 ex coupe, for 2 1/2 years, with just i/h/e, was more into show than go, back then, so i just had bolt ons, when i bought the car, it had 44k on it, a little over 2 years later it had 82k on it, then guess what happened, it spun a rod bearing. I'll admit, i did drive that car hard, but i always changed the oil on time and everything, the damage was already done, this left me with bad impressions, of the newer hondas, so i got rid of it without a motor, i thought about getting a b16, but said *** it, and sold it, got a 92 dx hatch, and put a 95 ex swap in it, the motor had 88k when i put it in, and it ran strong from day 1, and it was much faster than my heavy azz coupe. Well i just sold the hatch, only had it for about 6 months, in favor of a 90 crx hf, even lighter, i love it, putting a 95 ex swap in it too, in about 2 weeks, eventually i want to get a b16 for it, but i think i will be satisfied with the d16 vtec for now, all i can say is i wasted so much money on my 97 coupe, with the loan, rims, body kit, and all that and it wasn't even quick, a crx for 500, a b16 swap for around 1500, be hittin mid 14's, thats good for me.
