Kuhmo or Bridgestone?
OK guys, i have to get some new 205/40/16 tires and im trying to decide.....
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
Bridgestone Potenza RE950
anyone used the potenza's before? the kuhmo's are about 30 bucks cheaper per tire, but alot of people tell me they're just good for how cheap they are. any other suggestins would be nice

why are u running bigger than 15"?
actually im pretty satisfied with my potenzas, they grip pretty good, even though my suspension is weak now (puttin in ES bushings soon)

For the money, the Kumho's performance is just as good. I've had both brands but different sizes...18 on the Bridgestone and 15 on the 712's...Kumho's are an all around tire and perform better than Bridgestone on wet surface. Bridgestone's are better on dry.

Yeah dude, go with the Kumho's. They've got lots and lots of satisfied customers. I seriously doubt that you'll be able to tell the difference if it's a daily driven street car. I love my Kumho's.

is 16's too big? its not like they dont fit the car... and they only weigh like 15 pounds. i say 17 is too big, 16 is just the biggest you should go...
I have the Kumho Ectsas on my 91 Hatch. I really like them. Great in the wet and good cornering traction. My friend also had them on his high HP Supra. He said they were great through the corners too, but they didn't like to hook up when he put the pedal down. I'm not sure if this makes any sense, because shouldn't a tire have a equal coefficient of friction under acceleration and cornering forces considering identical road conditions. I have not had enough physics to answer this. Sorry to get so off topic, but I really like the tires. I'm thinkin' the Ecsta MX's when it comes time. They are supposed to be awesome for the price.

You might want to consider the yokohama es100 and bridgestone s03 if you're budget will allow for those tires, both are great tires, and will definately outperform the 2 you have listed. The es100's cost ~70 a tire for 205/45r16 while the s03's are significantly priced much higher than that.
Personal choice-15" rim with either SP5000 Dunlop or Bridgestone RE730. Either are great. The only thing is they are both Z rated. If you are looking for something less the list gets longer. If you are looking at 16" then the possibilities are also quite good. Why a 205/40-16 when they usual is 205/50-16? Just remember to PLUS size the tires to match the rims and Offset. The Civic rides on 15x7 with 195/50ZR15 SP5000 and is dropped with good clearance and camber correction. The CRX will be on 14x6 with similar sized tires as that is what I'm allowed for Improved Touring.

we have kumo's on our rsx & they are nice all around ires- way better than my hatch in the wet. my hatch has yokohama parada spec 2's which I love when it's dry, byt for cheap all around khumo get's my vote
I was at laguna seca a few months back for a race, and came across a bmw meet, I noticed nearley all of them were running kuhmo 712's. People with bmw wallets buying kuhmo tires must tell you something. You will be happy with them. Ryan
i use Kumhos Ecsta, not only that they are cheaper, but they grip good and last pretty long. But if you got the money, you can buy even better ones.

ok if its price your looking at its gonna be the kuhmo but if you want a GOOD tire i would bump up to a bridgestone potenza s0-3 pole position. for a 15 they are like 75 at tire rack i believe but they are well worth the money. i probably won't ever change to another tire on my hatch again.

I have the 712s and I love them. They are great in dry and good in wet conditions. They are good on pretty much anything but snow where grip is obviously hard to get.
I run kumho on my crx..i run 16" 205 45's...where i live it rains a lot and Id have to say these are the best all year tires ive ran...good in wet weather and reall good in hot days for a all season tire...I would get the kumho's a lot of people seem to like them..they were a decent price..not the chepeast but definately not overpriced...
