V6 Accord Stock-like Brake Pads for Cheap
My mom's '00 V6 Accord has had this horrible metal-on-metal screeching near the right-rear brake rotor/caliper. Wouldn't this be a bad, worn-down pad or could it be something more serious?
Also, does anyone know where to get stock-like performing pads for '00 Accord V6 Sedan? Remember, its my mom's car and she is used to the pedal feel/performance/etc. so a stock-like pad would be nice...The replacement from Honda is like $130 for the rears and we are looking for something cheaper.
Thanks

That price of $130 is cheap as hell. I payed 190 for my rears from Honda. There is no better deal than that. Even Belle Tire or a hole in the wall place will not go lower than that. Anyway, you dont want to get generic pads cause they suck, they squeal and dont grab the same. To me its not worth it for a few bucks less.
yeah..they are your brakes!!!! you can't put a price on safety. To me I would do some research and try to find something good quality (or just get OEM). they may seem to cost a lot, but they (esp. the rear) lasts a relatively long time. $130 lasting 3 years is only about 40 bucks a year, even oil changes cost more than that...
rear pads should not cost you $130 ever, my front RACE pads are only $115
the rear is used a lot less than the front, rears should cost about $25 if that
buy a set of Bandix, like said before, or other replacement brand found at any Autoparts store will do

rear stock pads from Majestic Honda are only 45 bucks, you should tell whatever dealer said 130 to go to hell. That's insanely expensive for brake pads.
I had the same sound occur on my v6 coupe. I had to have my rear brake assembly replaced, and all my pads. It cost me around $450 for everything. That screeching sound is the caliper on the rotor.

WOW you guys are getting RIPPED OF royally. I've had my accord for 7 years, I've replaced the brakes myelf every time, up until a year ago, Pep Boys had Rebestos brakes with a liftime warranty, so for 6 of the years I paid 30 bucks for a set of front and 25 for the rears and that was all I ever paid, I have 250,000+ miles, original rotors. Even now with having to pay for the brakes I think the rears are around 19 bucks and the fronts are maybe 24 bucks or so. And replacing pads is SIMPLE. Also as long as you change them before it's metal to metal, you wont have to do anything with the rotors. Again mine are original and have never been resurfaced, and no wobble when braking.
u dont need no resurfacing, and all that jibberish. Rotors tend to resurface themselves as brakepads wear out the rotors. Just buy a helms and do the work by yourself. Its like a daily maintanence. Very easy and dealer charges a **** load of labor fee and they dont do nothing different than what you would do in your garage.
I just replaced my brake pads today because of that same sound. It might be the sensor deal on the inside pad, letting you know that its time to change them. Oh, I paid 30 for my pads.
