Default Anyone with a 5 speed tranny have remote starter?

I have a 91 LS teg (manual) and want to install a remote car starter but cant find any that dont say for auto only. does anyone have experience with this? What can I buy and is there a way around the auto only problem?

NOOOOOOOO!!!

If you can get it done someone will have to do it on the side because it is a dangerous thing to do and no shop wants that on their hands (the liability and all). If you remote start it and it is in gear there goes your car and maybe your garage, your neighbor's car and who knows what else. If your ins. company finds out UP UP goes your insurance if you don't get dropped cause they don't cover that.

get the compustar system. its pricey but it has a safety so the vehicle will not start when in gear

That's what I have on my 5 speed teg. It's possible to put almost any new alarm system with remote start on any manual trans. Won't start if car is in gear, and to remote start vehicle a reservation mode has to be engaged before leaving vehicle. any good installer will explain how the reserve mode works.

I do the "turbo timre" thing when i get out of my car. that might be the "reserve mode" thing your talking about. but i have the regular viper 550...it says not for manuel, but that is just words they added, not anything different to the alarm. I didn't know they had a "cumputer"box. after letting a friend and a shop drive my truck, I had 2 launching truck incidents in a 1 month brand new truck...i had 2 heart attacks.

the design tech i posted earlier... you have to engage the "reserve" mode before you leave the car, WHLE IT IS RUNNING. Therefor insuring it was not in gear... my friend has it on his civic, works well.

Putting a remote start on an automatic and a 5-speed is exactly the same process. As someone mentioned before, it is quite unsafe which is why most places will refuse to do so. Just find someplace who will, and that's it.

I had mine when mine was an automatic. After I did the 5-speed conversion, it still works. I never use it though. Alarms suck....kill switches own. I can break into my own car so easily. Damn Hondas are too easy to steal nowadays.

well the only thing is the safety of having the clutch pressed when starting the car. disconnect or cut whatever that safety and install is no prob, except the issue of it being safe, like everyone mentioned.
